Coming from a different state an education system to having my own children and experiencing 2 counties systems in the area, my husband and I are looking to buy our first home in the area just for the purpose of putting our 4 children through this superb school. I am overwhelmingly impressed with the structure and compassion they show to the individual needs of each child in their care.

My child has been receiving special education services since preschool and Southgade does an excellent job of helping him get the best education possible. This school is preschool through 8th grade, pretty much one class per grade, and the small size has played a role in my son not being lost in the shuffle, and has played a role in his not being bullied or teased for being different. The teachers are excellent, well educated and predominatly kind and understanding. The special education and speech therapy support is phenominal. Our school still offers art, PE and music, and there is a school band for 5th -8th grade. The sports teams are free to participate, which is unheard of in our current society. The down side of this school is that there can be some turnover in students as there is a large apartment complex that is part of our school district. The pros far out weigh the cons in the quality of this school and its support of students with special education needs.

having smaller student per class makes my children a name not a number,they get more one on one help when it is needed, teacher are always available when they are needed.

The Elementary School results displayed on GreatSchools profiles are for grades 3 through 5 combined for each subject. Middle School results are for grades 6 though 8 combined, and High School results are for grades 10 though 12 combined. The KCCT is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Kentucky.
