I am currently a 7th grader at this school, and i love it! The teachers are excellent. They make sure you learn and if you have problems with any classes you can stay for ESS (Extended School Services). We have a very strong "ZERO TOLERANCE" program. We have lots of field trips and our sports are well funded! I would strongly recommend this school to anyone!
I live in Mount Sterling, but I have spent over half of my teaching career (7 years) in the Powell County School system. So I speak with experience when I say that the entire middle school staff is full of not only exceptional teachers and administrators, but also well-rounded students. Our students are given a quality education and we have the test scores to back it up (sorry Montgomery, Menifee and Clark counties)! We definitely have areas that need improving, but overall, I would highly recommend this school to anyone. I actually look forward to going to work almost every morning!
I really love the looks of the school and what my son is being taught! He is happy with the lunch even! This is a clean, and a drug free non violent enviornment! I feel good about working away while he is there! Great job workers of PoCo Middle School!

I think that the powell county middle school is A really good school, I was a former student now I am in high school (9th) and when I went to that school I learned alot and it was a memorable part of my life and I hated leaving it! If I could I would redo middle school again just to be able to have as much fun as I did! As for activities they have somehting called 21st century which has activities like, dance, archry, choir and plenty more, it wasn't like teams but it was something you could stay after and do,I stayed for dance myself! I am very sad that I am leaving the middle school and wish I could turn back time, I just wanted to let you all know PCMS isn't a bad school at all!
I am very upset with Powell Middle School. I have discussed my childs needs several times to no avail. I am now having to contact Frankfort.
I was angered to here that there was NO DANCE TEAM!My daughter was upset because she loves to perform. That does not leave as many extracurricular activies for the girls!
Very concerned with the issues of sex, drugs, and violence! as a parent with children enrolled in powell co. Middle i am shocked and angered that are children have this kind of environment to learn in. Something needs to be done and it needs to be with both the parents and the school.
