Woodford County High School has an excellent learning environment for grades 9-12. Where Woodford County High School offers every student an iPad to help them really engage in the learning and the criteria, the iPads also make the learning fun and easy. I am currently a Sophomore at Woodford County High School and I will proudly say that i am a Yellow Jacket because I know that my school is ranked #8 in the state of Kentucky and there is no shame in hiding it. Woodford County has the best staffers that help make the learning environment fun and easy to understand. The students at Woodford County High School are very encouraging and helpful when it comes to learning your way around the school as freshman or even a new kid, the students just want to show the comment courtesy that Woodford County has to offer. Also from an athletic perspective, the teams have great coaches and focus on the student athlete. When considering where to send a student for school think about Woodford County and everything it has to offer like the amazing staff, helpful students, great athletic opportunities, and especially the iPads.
Woodford County is a 5-star school in all respects- academic, athletic and social. I have been a parent representative on the Site Based Decision Making council for the past 2 years and I can attest to the fact that the school is led by an outstanding administrator, Principal Rob Akers. The level of care and concern for ALL students is shared by the teachers and administrators. I am as impressed with the plans that are in place for those needing additional services as I am with the level of expertise with which the Advanced Placement courses are taught. From an athletic perspective, the teams have great coaches and focus on the student athlete. From a social perspective, there are regular Club meeting days, awesome student assemblies and an in-house Prom that is the highlight of many Juniors and Seniors' social experience (both the decorating for and participation in it!) Woodford County is focused on helping students become career or college ready and it is no surprise that they have been ranked as a "school of distinction" in the state.
This school could really use $5000 dollars, I would hope that if they won it they would use it to improve the school. It is a very old school that needs some work. They really need a new high school in this town but it hasn't happened yet and from what I hear it wont for a while. The kids here deserve a school they can be proud of. They have had a state winning baseball team year before last and last year they had several state placers for wrestling including a state Champion who went on to win a national title. The school is producing students with a lot of potential to do great things for this state and this world yet they are in a school that really needs some improvements. It could only help to win $5000 to put towards the future of this area- Our children!
