We are a military family and have been at Anacoco for 3 school years. I cannot say enough about how wonderful the school has been. The teachers and staff challenge the students academically, but at the same time are caring, nurturing and supportive. I have seen my children excel academically and socially while at Anacoco. We chose to live in Anacoco, but had we lived on post at Fort Polk, we would have commuted without hesitation. I highly recommend Anacoco!

Anacoco Elementary is where my precious grandson goes to school. The teachers are very great and they are helping the children to become achievers in life. Wishing the Best for all. My thanks to Anacoco elementary school

I have a daughter who attended this school for 4th and 5th grade. We were a military family living on Ft. Polk, but I thought the commute was worth it. The education is the best you'll find in the area although I realize in terms of national standings, Louisiana is not high on the list. The school is friendly, appreciates parent volunteers (although I have yet to hear about a PTA of any sort), the teachers are very organized and expect a lot from their students. The classrooms, however are old, dark, cheerless and very cramped. The bathrooms and water fountains are beyond repair, they simply need to be torn down and replaced. Fortunately, last spring the residents voted a tax increase to support the renovation of this school which is long overdue. Unfortunately, making it all happen is very slow. Nonetheless, the school's education is better than the alternatives.

I have a child that has attended AES since Kindergarten. She has received an outstanding education and has excelled far above my expectations. Every teacher that my child has had, with the exception of her K teacher, has been kind, considerate and helpful. Education is emphasized very much and I like that. I agree that the facilities need an over-haul and hopefully with the new tax just passed emphasis will be placed on that immediately. Our children deserve a better facility.

I feel like the amount of homework is a little over the top. I have a fourth grader that spends hours each night trying to keep up with the five or six subjects a night that he is expected to 'study'. I also have a sixth grader that needs a little more one-on-one to keep his focus, but he doesn't seem to be getting that. I understand that one teacher has many students, but each student deserves a chance to excell, not just the ones that already have it mastered! I am a working mom with four kids, I expect the teachers to do most of the teaching. It seems more like the parents responsibility these days.

I have two children attending Anacoco Elementary at the moment and I am overjoyed at the education they receive here. When we moved here a year ago, my first grader could not read after attending a DOD school , but within two months the staff had him reading above grade level. The atmosphere is very family oriented and it seems like all of the staff know the children in the school well. Anacoco Elementary and the staff will be missed by our family when we relocate.

My daughter is in second grade, and I have been very pleased with her teacher. However, the facility is in a shambles, and no one seems all that concerned about it. Even the parents of the students rave about the academics there but don't seem to mind the bathrooms with dirt all over the walls, missing stall doors, and microscopically small classrooms. Our kids deserve a quality facility too. I spoke to the prinicipal about it and I know she is working towards improving what she can, but really, the entire structure probably needs to be rebuilt to support the increasing enrollment.

I have had two children attend Anacoco Elementary over the past 10 years, and I have always been more than satisfied with the quality of education each of them has received. The teachers and administrators always put the child first. As the school focuses on a high quality education, they also help each child to realize his or her potential in the areas of character, leadership, morals, and citizenship. I am extremely well pleased to have my children attend this excellent school.

This school provides an excellent front for academic success. However, I have noticed that money, name, position, and religious affiliation are credentials for a students educational success. Without these qualifications, the student is often overlooked for outstanding achievements. The teachers have a tendency to play favoritism to the more 'qualified' students.
