I am a former Trojan. I believe in the school. While I may not agree with everything, I agree with most. It is so important to have the small, family oriented environment. It is important however, to not let things slide in the process. Yes, I love the basketball and baseball, but that is the only choice. However, I commend the school for having those. I also do not agree with the re-districting! I am a life long Trojan and I feel like this is an attempt to close our school. My children have grown up at Athens and are successful. I don't feel that our school should suffer like that. But AHS will always stand!!! Kudos to the teaching staff! I am asking that the staff stop the gossiping - everything else is wonderful!! The kids do love you guys and they hear!!

My son goes to this school. I have no problem with his academics at all but that is because I dont leave it all to the teachers either. I love the school. And for anybodies info school learning should not stop when classes do if you take active involvement when your kids come home to make shure they now what is being taught they learn much faster. And bulling is going to happen in every school so get over it and stop being such winers about it the world ain't perfect but its what you make it not what others do.

I agree with some of the parents when it comes to sports the school is great, but when it comes to academics the school needs help. It is not the teacher to me its the principal. If they get better leadership at Athens it would be a five star school and thats the truth.

I believe that Athens High School appears to care about nothing but basketball. They have some excellent teachers, but most of the students just care about sports and not academics. I feel that the school desperately needs to upgrade is facilities and needs to provide more opprotunities for the students so they can have a better time at school. If you give the students more opprotunities, the students at the school should take advantage of it and run with it.

I think that athens is only interested in basketball other than the academics. They are great when it comes to sport related activities, but when the standardized tests come around, they are the worst scores that I have ever seen. I think that the school should be under better management because it's a shame how those students are going to school and not learning anything. It's a disgrace to our society. Yes, I'll wear the name of Athens when it comes to sports, but when it comes to academics, I refuse to even say their name.

The last comments on the school is not correct. Athens High School is a school of excellent achievement from our LEAP scores for the last two years. Our principal has led the school from being last in academic achievement to one of the highest scoring schools in the parish. As for athletics, no student is able to play on any team without meeting academic requirementss. In fact, the majority of the basketball team who competed for state are on the honor roll. The teachers are some of the finest in the parish, and they work very dilligently each day to provide the best education for their students. Our principal has worked hard to make Athens the best place for ANY student to achieve.

I am less than pleased with this school. When we have addressed issues about student behavior towards our children, the administration turns a blind eye. They seem more concerned about a possible law suit than giving my children a quality learning enviornment, void of chaos and bullying. Their focus is not academic, it is sports related. The leap scores are awful and that speaks for itself. The teachers try from what I can tell. But, I don't believe they have the backing of the upper administration and of the parents as a whole.
