I am shocked at the negative comments I've read about FCA. My family moved from Texas to attend this school and we love it! I am now employed by FCA and enjoy coming to work every day. The staff, faculty and administration work very hard to ensure not only an excellent education, but a spiritual one as well. We have chapel weekly and have mini devotions in every class daily. The children are cared for and very much loved, and I can personally attest to that.

My daughter attends the pre-school. Ever since Carolyn Richardson has been director, it is not the same! She does not care about the well being of the children or their teachers and she is hardly ever there! The have a student to teacher ratio problem and are very inconsistent! My daughter comes home dirty on a daily basis and the rocks on the playground are horrible!! They are dangerous for small children, they are always in her shoes, and they are very dirty!! I have voiced my concerns about all issues but I see that they will not be addressed!! As soon as her spot is available at her new school, we are done!! Use your money and send your child where the money is worth it!

We moved to Baton Rouge from another state and heard horror stories about the public school system. We felt pressured to send our kids to a private school. We chose FCA b/c the cost is cheaper than most other private schools and while the teachers have been friendly, I have to say that there are definitely some things that I don't agree with & need improvement. One of my children is in the preschool and she had been bitten, hit, bruised and scratched by other kids and I never received an incident report, not even a word about it. One of the girls that bit her and was biting other kids was allowed to stay even though their policy on biting calls for expulsion. However, my mom is also a school teacher in the public sector in Florida and says that my oldest is ahead of her kids at the same level in the public sector. Most employees have multiple roles. That's how they save money and in return how we as parents save money. I think they are trying to give the kids the best education without breaking the parents who want to send their kids to a private school. Just b/c it's Christian doesn't mean families that send their kids there are, so just expect some of the same behavior.

UNPROFESSIONAL ADMINISTRATION. Ive never been through so much stress. Please do not not send your child/ children. Theres nothing Christian about them. Ita more important they have power and not concern for the chikdren. My chikd went through a major depressiin because of what they put us through

FCA WAS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. MY DAUGHTER WAS ENROLLED IN THE PRE-SCHOOL PART AND WAS TREATED VERY UNFAIRLY. THE CAREGIVER WASNT CERTIFIED AND SHE EVEN ARGUED WITH ME. I ASKED TO SEE VIDEO OF MY DAUGHTER AND THEY DENIED ME THE RIGHT, BECAUSE THEY WERE CLEARLY COVERING FOR THEIR SO CALLED CAREGIVER. SHE WAS RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL AND IN MY OPINION SHOULD HAE BEEN FIRED. BUT INSTEAD THEY DENIED ME THE RIGHT TO GIVE A STATEMENT AND SEE VIDEO AND SAID MY CHILD COULD NO LONGER ATTEND THE SCHOOL. VERY VERY BAD EXPERIENCE. I WOULDNT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYBODY. FCA IS A JOKE AN SO IS THEIR ADMINSTRATION, THAT ONLY WENT OFF OF WHAT THEIR TEACHER SAID BECAUSE I QUESTIONED HER CAREGIVING TO MY CHILD. MY CHILD WOULD COME HOME EVERYDAY HYSTERICALLY CRYING. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAVE A PRESCHOOL PROGRAM. NONE OF THEM ARE QUALIFIED.

The Louisiana Board of Education needs to be called in to FCA for an audit. The only qualification for JSM to have this school they say is to have a principal with a master's degree. They have a figure head in place who has a master's degree in sociology, but nowhere will you find anyone in the administration who has any qualifications to head any school and the principal is rarely onsite as he has many other ministry responsibilites besides overseeing FCA. The academics are alarming and many students in the high school are not proficient at reading comprehension or writing ability. No testing is done to incoming students to ensure a college prep. cirriculum can be used so therefore, many poor students are in the classroom. Discipline is also an out of control problem and the administration doesn't have the training, education, etc to properly assist teachers with students. The professionalism at FCA does not exist.

My son is attending FCA currently and also attended the preschool. The fact that he remains speaks volumes for the care and education that I feel he is recieving. The environment has been nothing but loving and Christian as for as I've seen. The teachers really do care about the students. There is great communication with parents.

I am very impressed with this school, facility and staff. As a member of the Department of Education, I know this team of administrators and teachers are working together in providing the absolutely best education possible to the students.

My daughter and son attends FCA. They really like and love the school. The class size is about moderate depending on what grade you are in but each student is value and respected. I am pleased with what I have experinced at the school.

To the parent who wrote on May 22, 2008 stating that none of the caregivers and preschool teachers at Family Christian Academy preschool have a background in early child development:you are mistaken.I am a preschool teacher employed at Family Christian Academy, and I have over three years experience working with children of preschool age, including some with developmental challenges.I also have a BS degree from the University of Maryland with a minor in child development and education, with other credits going toward a Masters' degree in Education. There are other teachers with as much background and education as I have. The education, care and love given to the little ones who come to our preschool and daycare is anything but a joke. Please research all schools before basing an opinion from reading comments online.Anything can be said or printed in an online forum. My son attends preschool here and my husband and I are satisfied.

I can only speak for the pre-school and day care which is a joke. The business practices are lacking and unprofessional. While some of the care givers are nice, none have a background in early child development. The adminstration does not seemed qualified to run any business let alone a child care facility.

I would NOT recommend this school for any child. The name of the school should be Sports Academy, that is all they think about. I got expelled in 2007 for things they assumed and things they heard from other people. I wouldn't put my child through the stuff they go through there. Everybody knows your business and they all talk about it.

The principal is supportive of the teachers wether they are right or wrong. Parents have no recourse even though they pay tuition to this place. I do not recommned this school at all.

This school started out great, until the past two years, when it got a new principal. Teacher turnover is high, and some of the teachers are very rude and not helpful at all. The principal is not very supportive at all.

Family Christian Academy is a wonderful school. When it was time for my son to enter middle school I was determined not send him to the area public school for fear of corruption my the caliber of students there. Since at being at FCA my son has excelled academically and as an athelete. I am extremely proud of the character that being a part of this school help given him. Both he and I love it.

I am disturbed that we are allowed to post 'reviews' without some sort of checks and balances to offer credibility to the sources. My son will graduate from FCA this year and, yes it is a small school and faculty members to share teaching responsibilities, but is has been a healthy environment for him and I have found his teachers to be remarkably caring and compassionate people. I myself am an educator, completing my 27th year in public education this year.

What a nightmare! My son went to this middle school for one year. I would never recommend this school to anyone. Nearly every teacher has 2 roles at the school. The social studies teacher teaches science too. The guidance counselor is also the assistant principal. The reading teacher teaches english also. Absolutely nothing Christian about the behavior of the students or teachers.

Family christian preschool is a blessing to our family. The teachers really care about our children and the cleanliness is incredible. When we moved here, Mrs. Stone the director helped with the trasition with our children and gave us support when we needed it. We tell all our friends.

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
