I am very pleased with Parkview. I love the teacher, admins and staff. I think Dr Mays has been great for the school. Solid education, lots of activities and loving Christian environment. What more could a mother ask for?!
My child has been at Parkview for three years and we are very happy that we decided to go with Parkview. Academic excellence, awesome teachers and lots of school spirit. No school is perfect and Parkview has room to improve, but overall I am very pleased with the school. Haters gonna hate, lovers gonna love....I'm just speaking the truth.
This is a wonderful school....the teachers truly are invested in each student, and the parents are very involved. For the money, I believe this is the best school in Baton Rouge. The curriculum prepares students well for college. I highly recommend PBS above other private schools in the city.
This school is very well balanced, the academics are just as strong as any other top tier college prep private school in Baton Rouge. Parkview gets an unfair bias as a "sports school" but this is a great school focusing on Academics, Arts, Athtetics and your childs spirtual well being. Could not be more happy with this school!
I feel like this school could change quite a few things. As some of these other reviews have pointed out, athletics are heavily focused on. Sometimes, academics are just left in the dust. Some teachers are absolutely amazing and have been asked to leave and it's a shame to watch this once wonderful school go down. However, there are quite a few academic opportunities for the students including Beta, National Spelling Bee etc. While Parkview is much ahead of the game of most public schools, Parkview is much more concerned about getting a useless sports trophy than educating their students. The 6th and 7th grade Latin teacher, the 7th grade science teacher, and the 7th grade social studies teacher are just a few examples of the fabulous teachers that haven't been asked to leave yet. Overall, this school is a piece of work. A big problem in the middle school, is that if you're not playing sports, you WILL be bullied. Also, if it's thought that you're gay, they can expel you for that with no prior knowledge. They say they will "Do something about it", however nothing gets done. It depends on what you're priorities are if I would reccommend this school.
This school has been nothing more than an atheletic influenced institution. The good teachers were "asked" to leave because they stood up against the administration. I am glad to see the previous headmaster and elementary head are both gone. I pray that the school gets back to where it was before the parents and teachers financial status was the key. I miss certain teachers that had to leave due to their caring for the kids, not caring about the brands they wore. The negative comments that had been posted were real I assure you, but there is always good behind some too. I do have to say how unique that 3 "5 star" ratings use PBS's key words in them, a little work by the middle school head??
Parkview Baptist School is an excellent school that absolutely focuses on the four A's: Abundant Life, Academics, Athletics, and Arts. It is evident on the PBS campus that the faculty, staff, and students are are part of a culture that encourages inclusivity, compassion, and a mission-oriented spirit. The new headmaster has a clear vision for PBS, and he will undoubtedly be leading Parkview into an even brighter future. It is unfortunate to see such slanderous comments regarding the school, and it is apparent these are merely "disgruntled" individuals who seek to slander the character of this school. I have been involved with Parkview Baptist for over 25 years, and I have never seen a more vibrant campus environment. If you want to see what Parkview Baptist is all about, please visit the campus. Your child will not be more loved and cared for at any other school in Baton Rouge; that is a promise!
We just moved our children to PBS this year from another well respected private school in the area. We have been very impressed with the principal, teachers and overall curriculum. The lower school has been more academically challenging than our previous school and our children have really felt welcome as new students from day one, even the principal personally checking our son and calling us the first day to tell us he was having a great day in class. We look forward to the great opportunities ahead here for our family and plan to really be a partner in our child's education. I think the school has a lot to offer our children in terms of being well-rounded individuals and our kids are very happy. I am excited about what the new headmaster will bring to the table and future of PBS- I have heard great things and feel blessed to be part of this school community.
The teachers here were very unhelpful during my time at parkview. There was a lot of bullying, and much of it was physical as opposed to emotional. Many kids that were not involved in sports were not simply bullied by those that were. It was like we didn't even exist, like we shouldn't have existed. Those that recieved any attention from their more athletic peers were the worse for it. They are very bad when it comes to dealing with special cases. And they force their religion on the students. They have that right, and as a Catholic it wasn't very different from what I heard in Mass so I didn't really mind, but I had a Hindu friend and a Muslim friend who were both forced to sit through Chapel every wednesday for years. Students in middle school and above are forced to take a religion class, using the NIV bible i believe. Again, as a private institution they have this right but it would be nice to see them allowing for other religions. Also, not meaning to bring up a very controversial topic but at parkview, at least among the boys, being gay or at least having people think you might have been gay equated to you being more worthless than dirt.
I have attended Parkview since 2nd grade and i hate it here. Just because i am not an athletic star means I am paid no attention to. Most of the teachers are also coaches so they only care about getting their players a high enough grade to play... leaving the rest of us in bad shape. I feel like i am not prepared for college and i have to teach myself all the material because of the lack of care and commitment of the staff. Everybody at Parkview is judgmental and rude. Ive overheard teachers talking openly about students and parents in the halls. Parkview only cares about money and sports, its ridiculous. This school is a joke. Do not send your child to Parkview because it is also very clique oriented and the school does absolutely nothing about bullying. I would love to leave Parkview.... at this point anything is better.
Do not allow your kids to got to this school! I attended this school for 17 years and Parkview did not prepare me at all for the college experience. The only reason I am able to handle college is because my mom was a teacher and taught me how to study. Parkview does not care to actually prepare kids for college. I went back and talked with the head english teacher about going over other writing styles besides MLA because my first paper in college had to be in a style we never even covered and the teacher got mad at me for suggesting she mention the differences in the styles. ALL of the good teacher are gone. If you want your kid to be a druggie sports player send them there if not send them else where. If your kid is artistic DO NOT SEND YOUR KID HERE! They have no respect for the arts here. The art teacher is not very qualified and many of the students are better artist. Also the art teacher picks favorites and will allow those students into the AP art classes when they have no business getting past the Art 2 class. If your kid is seriously into the arts look into a different school that will allow you to send your kid to that school and NOCCA and your kid will be sussessful.
Our child has been attending Parkview Baptist for over 5 years now and we can definitely say we are pleased with the school so far. The teachers and staff are friendly, knowledgable, and always accessible. I consider it the best private school in Baton Rouge for my money!
I go to this school and I hate it here. I'm in the 8th grade and the guys are very immature. Many bullies are the immature people and they love to make fun of me for no reasons. The school says they would try doing something about the bullying but they aren't doing anything about it. If you just think about bringing your kid here, just don't because your son/daughter will not like it. Also the teachers don't have much dicipline when someone does something wrong. Terrible school.
Our son has been at Parkview for 3 years and abolutely loves it there. The curriculum is challenging, they're always learning new things. The staff is nice and always helpful, when needed. The tuition is a bit pricey, but it's well worth it!!!
Our son and daughter attended Parkview prior to moving. I was shocked and dissapointed to find that they were way behind academically from the public school system.
the principal and staff disrespected me and totally cursed me out after i asked for a return of money and lied about information on the diploma. they are just intrested in money and phony people
My daughter has been attending Parkview for 4 years. We love it there and she enjoys it there as well. She is learning a lot at Parkview. The only 2 complaints I have is the lack of dicipline and the price. By lack of dicipline..an example iswhen we went to the LASM there were public school students and private school students in attendence. The public school students were exceptionally well behaved and quiet, while the private school students well...they were all talking and not listening to the teachers. The teachers need to dicipline the kids more in my opinion. I would love the price to come down as well-it is almost unaffordable and they just keep raising the prices!!!!
Parkview is a substandard school with phony Christians who worship money and status. They care little for actual people and student achievement is well below that of public schools.
Parkiview is a great school. My child has learned so much.As for discipline that should be taught at home starting at a young age.School is for education. The teachers my child had were wonderful.
Parkview is a wonderful school. Especially if u have a son or daughter that needs a good athletic scholarship. It is the place to go for everything.
