My daughter stared second grade here this year. She likes her teacher and is making strait A's. She never complains about it being to strict and loves the fact she can bring a drink and a snack everyday to eat in class. They also have great behavioral incentives such as Bella bands which are bracelets they give out to kids who get good conduct. If you get a Bella band then sometimes they get extra play time and snacks at lunch and every 9 weeks they have a Bella bash party for them to reward good behavior. I have no complaints and I am very glad my daughter can attend this school she's already made student of the month for her class and they have a nice ceremony for them.

BCPS is wonderful! People complain about how strict this school is and I can understand why, BUT I also think that grades K - 4 set the foundation for my daughter's entire school career. Yes, kids should have a chance to run and play, but the school is primarily for learning, not running around. Kids can play after school. Also, from what I can see, the kids do participate in fun activities. I don t mind the rules or strictness most of the time and I am a pretty easy going parent. BCPS enforces positive behavior and encourages children to be the best they can be. I am thankful my daughter attends such an awesome school that doesn't charge tuition! She absolutey loves going to school. She feels special and smart who could ask for more? People will find anything to complain about, but this school shouldn t be one of those things. We love BCPS!

My son attends BCP and it is a great school considering the neighboring parishes but they are a little too strict with the dress code and I find it appalling that the children aren't allowed to talk during lunch and can't run on the playgroud. As long as I live in BC, my child will go to this school because it's a great school with great faculty but I do think that they could let the kids be kids outside the classroom.

The adminstration and educators are extremely qualified. There is a excellent atmosphere for learning. The enviroment is safe and comfortable for the students' learning experience. Parents are encouraged to participate in the childrens' education and the staff are readily available. The students' scores and skill levels are very competitive. This school rivals any school, private or public, in the state for a quality education.

BCPS has assisted and accommodated my daughter with Special Needs by every means possible. They have assisted her with speech, OT, PT, and APE. She has improved, cognitively and developmentally beyond our wildest dreams. We also have a daughter in the 2nd grade. BCPS has challenged her and continues to do so. We are thankful to live in a Parish that has an excellent public school system. The teachers and staff are very dedicated to their children.

My daughter is new to Belle Chasse this year. I am pleased overall with the academics that are offered at the school as well as the school organization. What I am appalled with is the fact that children are punished for being children! They aren't allowed to run on the playground. I, myself am a teacher and have never heard of a primary school which doesn't allow elementary school children to run during recess. Isn't the objective of recess to allow the children to expend some of their pent up energy so that they may focus better inthe classroom? They are not to allowed to speak in the cafeteria either during lunch. I'm sorry, but eating is a social event. What family sits down to dinner and doesn't say a word during the course of the meal? The staff needs to rethink some of the policies at this school.

We are a military family and I hope other military families moving to the area consider this school instead of the school on base. It is an excellent public school with professional, loving teachers. The children are all respectful and safe because of the school's policies. We will be very sad to leave this wonderful place. I highly recommend this school!

BCPS is the best thing that ever happened to me. You don't know how good a school is until you have a child with special needs. My son had a stroke @ birth. He has seizures and ADHD. BCPS provided him w/ an personal aide to stay w/ him at all times. They provide him with OT, PT, Speech and a special PE. Any teacher can be teacher of the year, but Ms. Conner is a Teacher of a Life Time.BCPS is very organized. They teach the children how to act in the real world. I love the fact that they cannot talk in the caferteria. This way I know, if my child is choking on something, a teacher will be able to hear him choking. I also know my child is eating his food and not playing. Recess time and after school time is for playing.

I absolutely love this school and reccomend it to everyone especially military families stationed in Belle Chasse. The principal is very friendly and not too busy to take calls or to see parents. The teachers are about business and I love it. While one parent remarked that students should be able to play, well I do agree. That is why the students have recess. Also going to sleep in the lunch room should not be a problem if the child is eating. Also there is busing for the kids off base and on base. The school also recycles uniforms att he begining of the school year for free. It is really a great school and I reccomend it to everyone.

I am very thrilled that the academics and teachers were just a good as when we transferred to Georgia two years ago. My son was extremely happy to be back and is still exceling. This one of the best primary schools in the state of Louisiana and with parental, faculty and community involvement, it will still continue to be the best. Although my son could have attended the school on the Navy Base, it does not compare to Belle Chasse Primary. Keep up the great work Pelicans!
