We have lived in the area for over 12 years. Both of my children completed all their elementary ed at BES and we were quite pleased. The PTO is fantastic and is extremely supportive. I know that teachers beg to be placed at that school and that is always a good sign. Dont let the age of the campus fool you...the quality can be judged by the test scores and by the staff. It is a true small town environment and I have no problem as a Realtor recommending this area and school to buyers.
My grandson started 3rd grade at Benton this fall. He was very apprehensive at first but has learned to really like it. He loves his teacher, Ms. Dean. I have to say she has been wonderful! My children attended Benton Elem also and we have never had any problems with the school. It's a small town and a GREAT school.
I have taught at Benton Elementary for many years and have always found that both the teachers and administrators work well together to make a safe environment for the students. They are proactive when it comes to providing a quality education for all students. The parents are very involved and they have a excellent PTO that goes well beyond what is expected. We have an excellent rating for our test scores, and the teachers provide a quality education for each child that attends there.
I am proud to say that my children go to BES. I have lived in this area for 30 years and have 2 children who presently attend BES and a third child who will begin kindergarten next school year. My children have had a great experience at this school the teachers and staff are very professional and caring. I would recommend this school to anyone. Go Tigers!!!!
Both of my kids went to school at BES all five years. I can honestly say (although they had different teachers) they each received an excellent education and were thoroughly challenged. When one of my kids had medical problems her teachers and principal saw to it that every accommodation possible was provided. I was very involved in PTO. The PTO provided many extras that were not possible otherwise...including a tutoring program, purchase of playground equipment, purchase of AR rewards and books and various celebrations like Grandparents' Day, Valentine's Day Candygrams and Read Across America. Great school!!
DON'T GO THERE! We moved there thinking it was a good school using this site's reviews & some local people's input, but we found it lacking in many respects. I personally heard the v.principal telling a parent who called the office concerned about getting an attendance notice in the mail 'WHOOP-DEE-DOO! You tell them you can have 10 unexcused absences, & you only have 5...' Not good IMHO. This was before the middle of the year, at which point we moved to another nearby town in order to get away from the school. The main reason was the teacher that my normally A-B honor roll (@ the magnet school we left) 3rd grade student had. The class had NO discipline @ all, which seemed to be a problem throughout the school. VERY disorganized & WANTING FOR STRUCTURE IN ALL AREAS. We were VERY disappointed. My K student's teacher was nice.
I have 2 daughters that attend Benton Elem. 2nd and 4th grades, and we all love the school and staff. I teach my children to make good decisions, and they cry when they cant go to school.
This school is HORRIBLE! My daughter only attended Benton Elem. for 1/2 a yr. & we ended up moving to Bossier, just to keep her from returning! The principal is a joke. She would act like she was going to handle things professionally, but would never address the situation. She made call backs & did follow-ups at her convenience only! My daughter's teacher... no comment. Let's just say, we had to get the Board of Ed. involved! My daughter is a social butterfly & had a lot of friends there, yet she would cry every morning begging me to not make her go!
Great school- lots of spirit! Sure, there are a few teachers that maybe need to think about retiring, but overall I've had an extremely positive experience! Lots of kids, lots of parental support- great Parent-Teacher Organization- they really get things done! My kiddos love it!
My daughter has some health problems that prevent on ocassion her going outside. This school is not very good about following simple instructions left to the teacher and principle. Also, teachers and the principle tends to lose excuses provided them by myself and signed by doctors. It is very unorganized and things are done last minute, rarely planned out in detail.
