This is not the school I would like my child to be at. It is entirely too unorginized and is really worried about the student dress code more than their education.
I attended Bogalusa High from 2003-2007..It was wonderful.
I and my husband graduated from this school and have had one child graduate in 2002. My son is there now and I have seen a major change in the system through the years. My graduate was not at all prepared for college and had to play a lot of 'catch up'. I must agree that they put too much attention on the students uniforms than the education. The teachers are pressured to pay more attention on this than to give them quality learning. The extracurricular activities are a joke and the 504 and spec. ed.teachers are over worked and need more help. My child has an ADHD problem and I know that teachers are not all aware of his problems and how to help. Discipline and parent involvement is also lacking. I love Bogalusa but the education here is not up to par anymore and our children are suffering.
Overall the quality of education at BHS is poor at best. They seem to be more concerned for the dress code then the education. Although the dress code is important, the classes available to students is not up to what I think it should be. And the new fence is that to keep the kids in or keep others out? None of the kids are going to be prepared for college and if this is what the State of La. has to offer that is sad. The special Ed program is lacking too. The school needs more teachers for that program. Its seems like the school is just babysitting our children.
I attended BHS from 1999-2001. Overall, the quality of this school is very poor. There are a few dedicated and talented teachers, but most are ill-prepared to meet the needs of students who need extra help and those who are gifted. The school's college prep program is practically non-existent. The focus of the administration seemed to be more on discipline than on upholding rigorous academic standards. With the exception of 'Project Grad,' parental involvement is exceptionally low. When I attended, the school was run with a heavy hand and the input of well-intentioned, respectful, and intelligent students was not welcomed.
Bogalusa High School is a prision and your child will fell like it is in a prision. some of the teacher are well decated but other teacher don't even care if your child has good grades or not. If you want your child to be well behave send him or her to bogalusa high school.
Bogalusa High is a fine and well-disciplined school. The staff on campus are dedicated and determined to provide your child with an outstanding education that he or she needs. Trust me.. I could not have marched across that stage with honors, without the help of my principals, teachers, and guidance counselors at BHS. They kept me on my toes and prepared me for the march on May 20, 2004. They will do the same for your children, as well. 'Can't Hide That Lumberjack Pride!'
Bogalusa High School is not a very good school at all. After graduating at the top of my class last year, I realized that I was not prepared. I took every advanced and enriched course offered at BHS, but found myself behind in everything at college. I recommend for you to send your students to a private school or home school them. Trust me they will get more out of it. I use to always love school until I came to this school.
