The staff and teachers are WONDERFUL!! My older children have gone to other schools in the area and they were good, but I have been most impressed with Bellaire with their tentativeness with my younger children. I feel they listen to their students needs and react accordingly. They see that not every child needs the same education and adjust accordingly. They are up to date with the current technologies that help with the learning process. I highly recommend Bellaire Elementary School!

Amazing school with fantastic teachers. Leadership oriented. I'm moving into the neighborhood specifically so ALL of my children will go here!

Before Hurricane Katrina, my daughters only attended catholic schools. When enrolling my Taylah' into Bellaire, I was reluctant to release her into a public school. Bellaire has changed my perspective of a public school education. We have relocated back to New Orleans and we really miss the love of the Bellaire staff. I am considering making Bossier our home and returning our girls to a great school system. Submitted by Twila Vining, a parent

Bellaire is the greatest school my kids have ever gone to. After Hurricane Katrina, they welcomed my kids and our family with open arms and I will always love them for that. This school pushed my kids to want to do do better and the teachers and staff keep the kids motivated.

Bellaire is a wonderful school. My daughter has been treated with respect and even with her behavior, she is treated like a real person. Mrs. Weaver understands children.

This has been a wonderful school for my twin girls. We will miss Bellaire as we move on to Curtis. Bellaire has the best teachers and staff as any school that I have had the pleasure to come in contact with. They have a great many parents that get involved there because they make us feel needed. Get involved too, volenteer at your child's school where ever it may be.

I have two children at Bellaire and heve been pleased every year. All parents feel welcome from the time you enter the front door until you leave the school. All of the staff knows the children and does their best to make the children comfortable. We couldn't ask for a better start to our children's education.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Louisiana used the integrated Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (iLEAP) to assess students in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 in math, English language arts, science, and social studies. The iLEAP is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Louisiana.

In preparation for new assessments in 2014-15, Louisiana is including more common core aligned content in LEAP and iLEAP tests in 2012-13 and in 2013-14. The percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
