My grandchild attends this school. She has learned so much and loves to tell me the Bible story she learned for the week. She is in Kindergarten this year and she is reading!!! She is also memorizing math facts! It is a great comfort to know that my grandchild is not only receiving a wonderful education, but is also learning about God on a daily basis. I have heard more positive things about this school! Providence Classical Academy is a blessing to Bossier!
Amazing school! My child is learning so much! This school is really Christ centered and it shows in the curriculum and in the teachers. Proverbs 3:6 tells us that if we put God first then he will direct and crown our efforts with success and this has happened at Providence! It's awesome to see God's hand at work and you can see it in the amazing growth of this school. I researched different schools when my first child was born and after hearing about Providence I was determined to send her here. It's more than I could have asked for! My daughter is in Kindergarten now and loves school! We were in love with this school last year and love it even more this year!
I went to this school for the year of 2012-2013.i was a middle school student and I wasn't impressed.they make it sound good but it is Not a good school they favortise the certain students, they let the students talk when the teacher is then have a terrible behavior system and I was a student and I think so. They don't handle situations well and they let students make fun of each other most of the time. And most kids that go their don't even like the school all of this is true. Almost every teacher has a student their and most of them teach them so that's more favoritism. So don't fall into their trap this is coming from a kid who went their. You would be better of at a public school. Or word of God it's a great school. Oh and they let students talk about people in the outside world and make fun of them and teachers sit and listen no joke.they say its a christian school it's almost like a public school. if u don't like ur child being made fun of and making bad grades because kids talk during test this is not the school for u
I am a nationally certified teacher retired after thirty-four years of teaching elementary school. I also have an M.Ed. degree beyond my B.A. in Elementary Education. I currently serve as a substitute at Providence, and I am very impressed with both the quality of the curricula and with the teachers I serve. The curricula in reading and math are both cumulative, introducing a new skill but also including former skills on a daily basis where students continue to apply what they have learned and stay refreshed and comfortable using previous skills. The teachers and staff there have welcomed me with open arms. They are considerate and proactive with helping me and with helping each other. If any of the teachers with whom I have worked are not certified, it is certainly impossible to note. Providence does not appear to me to be a school where who you are or who you know affects how well you are taught or how you are treated. I choose to substitute here not at all for the pay but for the personal gratification of working with such inspiring students and such a wonderful faculty.
Providence is such a blessing to our family! What we love about Providence: 1) Teachers who are really good at teaching, who love our kids, and who love God. 2) A curriculum that challenges our children, especially in developing the fundamental skills of math, reading, and writing, not to mention really studying history and Latin and having a great science program. 3) The community of families that are a part of Providence. We know that we are together with other students and parents who value both education and walking with the Lord. We don't know of a school in the area that offers both the academics and Christ-centered mindset as Providence does and are grateful that our children get to benefit from such a great school.
Great school! I had my doubts about spending the money for private school, but this has been by far the best investment I have ever made. My child is working far ahead of his grade level in all academic areas. While I am very happy about that, I am most encouraged by his behavior and the maturity level that he has learned from his teachers who consistently instruct him on how to live according to the Biblical world view.
PCA is a great school. My kids enjoy the Christian aspect of being allowed to talk about God in history and chapel. Teachers are great and really love the kids. Latin class helps with Grammar. Math is ahead of other schools. We really enjoy this school.
This school is about who your parents are. If your parents work there, you allowed to walk the halls and misbehave without any consequences. A few of the teachers are wonder but most of them are not certified teachers and know just a little more than the children do. They will not offer than information to you but you can go to the main website about classical education and they seem to encourage non certified teachers. I only wish that I would have known the information that I do now before I signed my child into the school. Be check into the school prior to enrolling you child!
Our daughter started 9 weeks after school started. I wwas worried she would have problems catching up, but her teacher has been outstanding working with her and my husband and me. I can see that her teacher cares so much about her and it touches my heart! The main reason we chose pca is bc of the chrstian influence. We both love the lord and think its awesome that biblical principless are integrated into every aspect of learning! The added bonus is that my child loves school so much and is excited to go!!!!
Providence Classical Academy is an excellent school that is a "true" Christian school. By that, I mean that every aspect of the school day is centered around God, giving Him the glory. The academics are outstanding; my child is learning and retaining so much more than her friends who attend other schools. The teachers are loving and care deeply about your child, both academically and personally. PCA is a blessing to our family!
Providence Classical Academy has done an incredible job of partnering with me in the education and spiritual development of my children. My primary hope is that they will grow up to love Jesus Christ with all their heart, soul, and mind and that His peace would guard their hearts and their minds all the days of their lives. The education is very advanced and challenging. My children have grown from average students to now working multiple grades ahead in most of their subjects. Their IOWA achievement scores have been beyond anything I could have hoped for, and I attribute that to the excellent staff at the school. While I am very pleased with the education, my primary reason for being at Providence is that the Biblical world view is integrated into everything they do. It takes a concentrated effort for me to find 15 minutes each day to talk with my children about God's Word and then go to church on Sunday. Before we came to PCA I knew that we needed to do a better job with this. In PCA, I found a partner who literally spends 35 hours each week with my children helping me grow their minds and their hearts for the glory of God.
PCA is a young school with a wonderful vision. The desire to successfullly combine Christian and classical with the ultimate desire to see children that we will be able to impact the world for God' glory. My son is in a kindergarten class now and is learning a worldview consistent with what he learns from his parents and his church. That worldview is that God is the center of all things and that we should live for his glory. Not only is the world view Christian, there is serious academic work taking place. I am struck at what my son is learning at his tender age that I did not learn until later and still have not learned. I also love how PCA wants and evens encourages parents to be involved in the education of their child. We know exactly what our son is learning and are asked to review material and do homework with him. It is demanding, but our son loves learning. As good as I think it is, PCA's faculty and staff tells us, the parents, that they want to get better, which excites me to know that they realize that there is room to grow and have not quit because they think they are perfect, which frankly is a problem in many organizations. Overall, this year has been a blast.
Providence is a wonderful school that has given my children a biblical worldview unlike any other school in this area. The classical method is a fantastic way to teach little minds to absorb and remember information. My daughter will sing a song to help her remember certain things such as state capitals, etc. Every aspect of learning is covered with the gospel and the teachers and staff truly have a heart for our children's souls. Campus visits are welcomed and I encourage you to visit if you are looking for a Christian school for your children.
We are in the process of joining the Providence family and it has not been a decision we've taken lightly. Through meetings with the HeadMaster and multiple teachers, reading and researching about classical education, many, many discussions with other parents as well as interaction with their incredibly bright, well-educated (for their respective ages),and well-mannered children, not to mention much PRAYER, we are 100% certain that this is the place for our child (who is struggling with major boredom in her public school kindergarten classroom despite the valiant efforts of her wonderfully educated, certified teacher. I happen to be a public educator as well, and the difference in what I'm required to teach at an elementary level and what the children at Providence are learning (and already know), is substantial.
PCA has been a blessing to my child and my family. Overall, the curriculum is challenging; the content is presented in the classical method and determined by the child's level of development. While this format incorporates memorization in the lower grades, upper-grade students are able to apply this knowledge as they explore advanced lessons in ALL subjects. In fact, my perception is that my child is receiving a "gifted" level of instruction in all academic areas. From the beginning of daily chapel until the end of school each day, students are encouraged to live for God's glory and to achieve academic success. I am amazed each day by the thirst for knowledge my student has developed since beginning school at Providence. The teachers at the school have instilled this scholarly attitude through their knowledge of the material taught and their Christian compassion for each and every student. In the upper grades, the students get to further explore what they have studied through out-of-town field trips to various museums and other points of interest. God bless the faculty and administration of PCA as they pursue educational excellence for their students.
PCA currently has 1, maybe 2 certified teachers on staff. The school has at least a 50% turnover rate in its teaching staff each year. Compared to a public school curriculum, each grade level covers about 1/2 to 3/4 of the material that should be learned in a year. This school's standardized test scores are so low that they will not share them with prospective parents. The school's leaders have no experience in education, much less classical education and it shows. It is telling that every person who joined together to form the school has now left or been pushed out by 1 founding member who remains and who now serves as "Head Master" with his hand picked board of directors. BTW, board meetings are closed and the schools finances are secret even as they ask for $30,000+ pledges from each family to pay for a new multimillion dollar campus (for its 100 students). There is so much wrong with this school that it would take pages to share everything. Many parents will not be sending their kids back next school year.
All 4 of my children attend school at Providence Classical Academy. We have been with the school for 5 years now and I am amazed at how much my children learn each year. The children start each day in chapel, singing hymms and learning how to apply Godly principles to their lives. What an amazing way to start the day! The Academics are outstanding; and the small teacher to student ratio insures your child gets the attention and help they need.
Providence is everything I ever wanted for my daughter. If you are looking for a Christian based school that has high academic standards, this is the school for you! They keep the student to teacher ratio small, so they are able to give more individualized attention to the students. They stay at least one grade level ahead of the public schools. I believe that the students are able to keep up and enjoy their school work because of the small classes and the way that they are taught the information,. Most of all, I love how literature is through the classics. They enjoy reading the classics instead of a boring literature text book. They do little projects and eat food from the time period. This really brings it to life and gives them a rich experience. I love this place and it's the next best thing to home schooling!
I believe that this school is setting the standard for excellence in education in NWLA. The classical methods work! My daughter is learning amazing amounts of facts, figures, poetry, and scripture. She comes home with information that I know I never had in school. She loves going to school every day.
This school is amazing! I have a daughter that attends K-5 there and she is learning so much. The curriculum is so rich and as also centered on teaching character to our children. In addition, the staff is so kind, capable, and interested in feedback from the parents. I am moving my older child there for next year as well. Do not hesitate to check out this school. It has been a God send for my daughter. She is extremely shy and we felt that large classroom would be too overwhelming for her.
