My daughter has gone to Lyon 4 yrs now,I held her back a year. She Loves her school and her teachers. The Office Staff are wonderful and seem to know the children by name . They are willing to help with anything that you may need. With me being honest in 4 yrs I have had a couple of issues ,they were taken care of as soon as they were brought to the schools attention. We Love Lyon Elementary.

I have two children at this school and I have been very pleased. I was a little hesitate in the beginning because the school hasn't always had the best reputation, but I have nothing except for compliments for Lyon Elementary! My children's teachers are wonderful! The staff is very friendly and helpful! I would recommend Lyon to anyone!

I have a kindergartener at this school and we have had nothing but problems with everything from being bullied on the bus to teachers not paying attention we he's gotten hurt. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

I agree that this school does not get the recognition it deserves. My children enjoyed being students here. I have one that is now off to middle school and one still at Lyon. I am very pleased with the staff and teachers. Five stars!

This is a great school. The PTA is strong and very diligent about getting things done. The teachers are not only very good but very concerned about your children. The principal does a wonderful job. The office staff know most of the children by name and are always kind and helpful. It still has that small town feel about it. My children have very dedicated and knowledgable teachers. It is a wonderful place for children. I don't believe they get the recognition they deserve.

Truely excellent school. Well managed and teachers are great. This school makes very good use of available money and has a large contingency of parent volunteers. Overall, you couldn't find a better school for your children.

About the tests

In 2010-2011 Louisiana used the integrated Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (iLEAP) to assess students in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 in math, English language arts, science, and social studies. The iLEAP is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Louisiana.
