I have had three sons go through this school and I believe that they were well prepared for High School. Two are now working for a living and still take time to return to the school for extra activities. The last one is about to leave the school for High school and seems to be very prepared for it. Time again will tell just how prepared he was but my feelings are this is a great school if you are interested in your child learning. If you just want your child to get through then this may not be the school for you.
I am on my second child going through this school. With my first child, the school was ran by Mr. Murphy. Not only did he do an excellent job of running this school, he got to know the kids and had their respect. My second child has had the unfortunate pleasure of Ms. Holmes. The organization and safety that was once taken for granted is no longer. I have had nothing but problems!!!! In an attempt to put her mark on the school there are constant changes not always for the better, not always consistant and not always with notice. There seems to be more interest in the number of stitches on the uniform pants than the education of the students.
I have had alot of problems with the teachers and staff at Southside Junior High. Mrs Williams!!!!! This school is on a power trip and I am far from impressed.
it is a great school.my children'd grade were better there then any other school.

This school has one of the best Veterans programs that I know of. I have attened the last three by the invitation of my Grand Daughter. Mrs. Holmes & her staff does a wonderful job on the Veterans day.

Southside Junior high is an excellent school with plenty of teacher and parent involvement. They have an oustanding extracurricular program and are very interested in the children individually. I was able to track the progress of my children, which was a plus as we were new to the area and the school. The teachers were very supportive and communicated with me on my childrens progress throughoug the school year. I only wish they could continue to attend. All in all, a decision I do not regret making. Robin Sharpe
Gosh, how I wish my daughter could continue on to 9th grade @ SSJH, after seeing 'reviews' for DS Freshman High! haha! I'm leery but will step forward with a positive attitude... Thank you to SSJH teachers for being so wonderful in preparing my daughter for HS & taking extra time out with each individual as if they are the only child in the classroom! This school is so very organized, considering... We'll certainly miss SSJH!!!
