I was very skeptical when my daughter started at South Grant. We came from a much larger parish into Grant. I have to say, however, after two whole years at this school I am completely and 100% satisfied! The school itself is immaculate, and the teachers are amazing. My daughters grades have never been better, and there is so many ways to keep her learning. I recommened this school to anyone entering the area!

I would like to start by stating this was written with the intent to help other parents moving to this area to have the facts. This doesn't mean that this school can never grow or prosper. Praises: 1. I am not allowed to give names but there are many caring & dynamic teachers. 2. The principal is open to concerns and does her best to work out situations. 3. The school nurse is attentive and knowledgeable. 4. Phonics is strongly taught giving the students the tools to be successful readers. 5. They do their utmost to provide a loving environment. Concerns: 1. Special Education classes are not offered. (i.e. gifted, challenged, etc.) 2. The curriculum is lacking in many aspects. They are easily one grade level behind in comparison to the U.S. average. 3. When a teacher for specials is out (example music, library or P.E.) the students many times watch a movie. 4. The counselor(s) do not participate in any open houses, etc. so the parents don't have any idea who they are or if the school has one or more.

I think this school is behind...what happened to no child left behind??? Maybe be/c the school is behind! My son couldn't start pre-k in south grant elem. be/c they only take 12 kids and the special needs are taken first, which I understand that, but most school have a pre-k and have had for years for average kids. They are behind! My second son was also held back a yr in kinder. b/c he didn't learn his abc's in time...All due to the teacher not telling me til the last 2 weeks for him to know them. She sent home smiley faces and I asked her why ...she said she didn't want him to think he did anything wrong b/c he was copying off the little girl he was paired with! Once I told him its ok to not make smiley faces and that he had to learn on his own...no problem!

My daughter is attending South Grant's Pre-K, and we both love it! All of the faculty that I have met have been great. The teachers are very involved and there is always opportunities for parents to be as well. They all care very much about the children and there well being.I know my baby is in good hands there, whether it's in the class room, on the play ground, or riding the school bus. I am very greatful to have my daughter in this school. Thank You.

They are willing to support their faculty and staff in discipline and other matters . The continued success of this school will mean that all concerned Students, parents, faculty and staff work together to build our school into one of the best in our state.
