I think Hanson has really grown into a great High School in many aspects. The administration has really stepped up in increasing the spirituality of students. The teachers really care about the students and do their best to give them a good education both academically and spiritually. The campus is great with many new additions and it's a safe environment. Though Hanson can improve on many things, over all it's a good school.
Good Points: Strong emphasis on faith, excellent sports program, some really good teachers. Not so good (read:bad) points: Sometimes too strongly Catholic, especially for a non-Catholic. Academics definitely could use work. Most graduates are swamped with college, as teachers tend to spoon-feed students (giving them notes, easy tests).
a excellent school they have acived so much and the teachers actually care the faith in that school is outstanding they are spirtually the strongest school ive ever seen
Hanson is a school that can effect many different students in a positive way. Academically they are growing as they just passed the national ACT average. Spiritually they are very strong. They have a very positive adminstration.
The stuents who take advantage of everything offered at Hanson do very well in college. The teachers really care and there is a very safe atmosphere. Most students go on to do very well in their college classes at UL and LSU and Tulane.
To be quite honest I belive that the students leave this school without the education that they need for college. The math program was VERY weak while I attended, and the majority of my classmates, including myself, did very poorly in college in math classes. I also feel that the music program could include more than just choir. As far as for the parent involvement, there's too much of it. Some of the parents think that they can 'rule the school'. Leave that up to the school administration, especially Fr. Russo.
