My daughter has been going to this school for 7 years and has never had any problems! Ms. Joseph was a great principle and so is Mr. Chenier. I am glad my student is going to this school! They work hard for the students and try their best to achieve their goals. The teachers are completely fair ro each and every single student! If you think that this school is bad or that your child is being mistreated then you better check your child before you go saying anything about this school. No adult that I know in that school is going to tolerate a child's misbehavior! Mrs. Green and Mr. Chenier work really hard with their students and they in courage them to do well. That is why most of there student got EXCELLENT scores on Leap AND iLeap. I bet that one day that Garyville Magnet will be better than Ory because they work hard for it. They are different, unique, and original.
Im not happy with the comment one parent wrote about her child with ADHD. My kid would come home everyday talking about that kid. Last name BR.. Oh yes we ALL know your children honey the oldest one was horrible! Ms Joseph and her staff tried to help your child in school. I know because I would be at school to volunteer and saw it. That kid was horrible. One day he was yelling in the hallway wanting to fight some other kid. He was mean to you and I think he was arrested before. I heard he was trying to be fresh with one his teachers! Honey let me tell you something. You need to take responsibility for your children. Stop blaming other people. You mad cause Ms. Joseph didn't tolerate that foolishness from you or your kids. Yep. She was tough but she was all about that business. Ms. Bailey may be tough but she's good. All the teachers there do a lot for those kids. If your child failed it's because he wasn't worried about school. I think that younger one was nicer. You made the comment that Ms. Joseph was scared for your child's future well they all are! You need to get your act together. Oh and slap Ms. Joseph, she would have slap you back We glad that kid is gone Our rating is a 6!
My children have been attending garyville magnet since 2007. Mrs. Joseph was the principal at the time and I thought she was horrible and inconsiderate. I have two kids with ADHD and she talked so down on one of my kids to the point to where I wanted to slap her! She told me that she's scared for my child's future. In addition, I placed two of my kids in a private summer school cause they both failed and she refused to take the passing grade they got. Now that Mr. Chenier is principal, I think it's a slight bit better, however I believe they need to offer kids with learning disabilities more one on one attention. These kids are mixed in classes with regular kids and it's not fair. Also, ms. bailey is the ONLY math teacher there for 6th, 7th and 8th and she's HORRIBLE! She does not show compassion for her students and she's always failing kids. She failed my child 3 times! Once in 6th, 7th and 8th! If this school system see a struggle in a child's learning don't you think they would make some kind of accomodations? NO! They just SAY they're going to help them and they DON'T! Send your child to a better school if you can!
Garyville Magnet school is a school where kids can get away with murder, metaphorically speaking. It's like the teachers and principal don't even take the time to pay attention to what their students are doing. The school says they have a goal to be the best in the state, well I think they are doing the opposite. They are on their way to becomig the worst school in the state. They say that they have responsibility for their students when in fact they don't want anything to keep their students under control. They say that they want their school grounds to be a safe place for their students when in fact my nephew who is going through so much it is nowhere near a safe place for a kid to be. Everyday he comes home from that school there is a new problem. In fact I know there is a problem everyday even if he doesn't say there is one. when he comes home I can just look at him and tell that he had had a rough day at school. Whether it been the students in his class or other students. I guess what I'm trying to say is that Garyville Magnet needs to take another look at their goal and dreams that they put up on their website b/c I'll be contacting St. John the Baptist Parish School Board.
garyville magnet is a very caring and loving school for childern and the reason why i like garyville magnet is because it is very high on education and that what alot of childern need these days and garyvillle magnet has a lot of teachers who about these childern and wants them to have an high education.
I must admit I was not a big fan of GMM. I thought the students there were horrible and the teachers didn't care. Boy was I wrong. I needed to go to the school to pick up my niece and was in awe. Did you know they had two of everything. Computer labs, math labs, science labs with a real store. I also saw two courtyards. One of them has a big pond. The teachers were nice and they all seemed to care. I think we need to take another look at this school. Go and see for yourself because what you hear on the streets is not accurate at all.
I am very pleased with the direction our school is going. It is clear the teachers and principal want the school to be the best in the state. It's everywhere. This year I feel very welcomed. There are so many activities for the parents to get involved in. I've never seen so many parents at our PTO meeting. The school grounds are looking good. Teachers are very energetic and upbeat. They are going above and beyond the call of duty. I'm proud to be a part of GMMS!
I am the proud parent of two students at GMMS one is going to be in the second grade and one will be going to the fourth grade. I am not proud to say that last year was one of the most horrible years GMMS has had since either of my children has been attending. There were only 4 PTO meetings held in which parents only got to meet with the teachers on one occassion. The awards ceremony was conducted in such a horrible way that there weren't anymore held for the parents because of their complaints about it. I have to say that there have been times where I have seen GMMS in better conditions which were also under better direction.
I am very pleased with the new administration at Garyville. Ms. Joseph has provided a cleaner, more disciplined atmosphere at the school. She cares about the students and shows she wants to provide a quality education for all.
I like the surrounding at the school. Mrs. Triche has made wonderful inprovements to school. She is very helpful and loves the children. My kids have been there for three years. They have done very well. The school and its staff has only gotten better.Thank Mrs.Triche for caring and doing such agreat job. We love you.
