We are very pleased with Jena Elementary School. We have had two children attend JES and our third child attends now. The teachers are dedicated. JES staff work hard to provide a safe environment for our children to learn. Also they work well with the parents which is needed to give the best for our children.

I am pleased over-all with Jena Elementary School. My 8-yr old step-son has attended since kindergarten, and he's never had any major problems. The teachers we have had are very involved with each student and the parents. Discipline and behavior are also important things at JES. The principal is dedicated, caring, and hard-working. The only real complaint I have ever had with this school is the abundance of student fundraisers. I do not agree with the idea of sending the children home every couple of months with catalogs of ridiculously over-priced candy and order forms for expensive cookie dough with the promise that if they sell, they will get a flimsy keychain in return. I am sure that is with any school now, and rather than let that cause a problem, we simply don't participate in many of these. Other than that, I think the faculty is doing a great job.

My child has gone to JES since he was 4 years old. JES is a school where the focus is on producing a well rounded child. Each child is encouraged to do activities that associate learning with fun. The teachers are providing an atmosphere of loving attention in the classroom and out in the community. The principal is solid and strong. She knows that balance in education is the key to a solid foundation for my child. My siblings (both in the FBI) and myself are graduates of JES. Thank you JES for helping my child to love to learn!

I have 2 children of my own and a neice that attend this school, not to mention that I also am among the staff. I have seen things first hand and I feel like the principal needs to have a face to face meeting with every parent, though I know that realisticly this isn't possible. Then maybe she would have a better understanding of different childrens and different needs amongst these children. I have found that bullies do run rampant at this school and the principal seems to be unconcerned with it unless it has to do with her own being. There are a few teachers that should go back to school themselves, but that's going to be everywhere. If they would get a new principal it would be an all together better school. I look forward to the day when my kids will move on to another school.

I have several children who attend Jena Elementary, and I went to this school. I am pleased in some way's but I do feel there is room for improvement. I feel the teachers as well as the principal should take a closer look at bullying and the effect it has on children, and take a stiffer discipline approach to this. I do not feel that the principal is concerned about parents concerns at times, and should be more open to resolving conflicts parents have with the administration, and les with how her 'report card' for the school looks.

I am not happy with the leadership at my childs school. I feel more concern is put on the principals community standings versus her students needs. parents concerns are very rarely addressed, and students do not seem to be the principals main concerns. there is a definate lack of direction, and and overall confusion about policies and procedures. bullies run rampant year after year with little or no consequences, and this seems to bother no one at the school, other than the children.
