Southside Elementary is a great school. The principal, along with his staff, really good a great job. I have seen children really develop into good readers after spending their first and second grade years at Southside. Parental Involvement activities are beginning to pick up and I look for even greater things next year.

I feel certain teachers have a controlling problem with the children. I feel they don't have enough to keep the kids active. Certains teachers just don't have the care for the children they should. I have notice this plenty of times I have attended the school.

Where are you parents? How can the teachers be expected to control their classrooms when some of the kids are completely out of control? My child is not perfect. I am quite certain that the teachers have to take time out to ask her to be quiet. But the activity of some of the children shows a lack of control not only on their part but on the part of the parents. Please don't send your child to school for the teacher to become part-time parent. That is not their job. Teaching reading, writing, and arithmetic is. Wouldn't it be great if you had to spend one day..just one...taking the place of the teacher? You may find new respect for the people who have to spend eight hours per day with your child and everyone elses. Parents, take control. Teach some manners. Unplug the tv. Spend some time with your kids.

My child attended this school for a few months. This school doesn't involve parents in much at all. I am a parent who likes to be involved with my child both at home and at school, and this school does not seem to care about it. My child never quite felt comfortable while attending this school, which in turn made me uncomfortable.
