Lakewood Elementary School

Lakewood is a good school. However, if you have a child with exceptionalities such as ADHD, OCD, Asperger's or Tourette's, it may not be the school for your child because the school does not have the training and information available to it to provide your child with the extra support your child will need to be successful. In fact, the school takes a full responsibility approach and does not make exceptions easily despite diagnoses. St. Charles Parish is also resistent to having outsiders come in to train the teachers, etc. and the principals cannot force teachers to attend any inservices you may schedule outside of the school. However, if you have a normal or gifted child, this is definitely the place to be. The gifted program is wonderful.

We have been extremely please with the assistance and support we have received regarding my child's education. The educational opportunities the students are exposed to are top notch and based on current research. The teachers go over and beyond to reach students in their areas of need. Great job, Lakewood!

Lakewood was great in the past, but as of the last couple of years it has changed. Check out the schools overall LEAP scores. Speaks for itself.

I moved my children here in the early spring of 2002 and my child has shown so much improvment from the last school she had attend. She is showing more interest because the staff here really cares... Thanks to all the staff at lakewood for being there for my child. Tabatha Hayes
