This school has changed and improved so much since Mrs. Shea (Principal), and Mr. Kern (Vice-Principal) have taken over. My daughter is currently in 6th grade and is doing work that I didn't have in 6th grade and I went to an expensive well-thought of private school on the southshore. When my daughter moved to MJH from Madisonville Elementary in the 2007-08 school year for 4th grade, I was a bit concerned about the 4th graders going to school with the 8th graders but it is done as at a private school (4th and 5th are in their own separate wing) and there is no interaction except for the school bus. Kudos on a job well done!
My daughter goes there and the teachers are very good. They go above and beyond for there students. My daughter is in special ed and is very challenged by her teachers. grade A for them
Madisonville Jr. High (MJH back in the day) = best years of my life, plain and simple.
MJH is a great school.. The teachers care about the students and invite the parents to contact them anytime. (online is great) My son was at a Catholic School on the Southshore. We moved to Madisonville 2 years ago and we had to get use to change. It is the age to help them become more independent - which can be a challenge - but they are right. My son is in an honors class and has been exposed to art and loving it. He has made many friends.
We love this school! We took our child out of private school, which offered limited programs to our child once she tested gifted. MJHS offers a great gifted program, although so many parents are sending their gifted children there, they will need to expand this program ASAP. The Principle and VP are extremely involved in every day activities.
Well run friendly school. Academics strong especially at honors levels.
Great school, the principal and VP handle the school with skill. Teachers are helpfull and great with the kids. Advanced class's for gifted students are great. School runs at the private school level.
I just moved to this area in 2005. I was very uneasy at first about my daughter starting a new school in the 5th grade. I have to say that MJH made us feel at home. She is currently in the 6th grade and I can't say enough good things about this school and the staff. The teachers are great and are always willing to help. My daughter is in honors and her grades are wonderful. I give credit to the school as well as myself and her hard work. I will be very upset when it is time to move her to high school.
My daughter has attended MJS since 4th grade and we had the means to send her to private school. It is a wonderful hometown school. I have been active in the school on various projects and everything is about the kids and grooming them to be caring, mannered, productive adults. She is going into 7th grade and I wouldn't want any place else.
Madisonville is a great school that I really enjoy going to. Everyone knows everyone and the teachers are great. The princaple and vice princapal are very nice and treat everyone with respect. I'm really sad to be leaving next year to go to high school.
