This school proves public schools can do things right when everyone works together for a common goal.

Do not listen to those reviews that say that "ohh, haynes is great, my daughter/son loves it, so much time for extracurriculars" NO. this is not true. the middle school curriculum isn't that hard, but the high school curriculum is SO jam-packed, there's no time for anything outside of school. I do play sports here, and i am in high school, but because of the large amount of work I have to do, I often end up sleeping at 12:00 or later. Some teachers give SO much work and some give hardly any; some teachers actually explain everything while some teachers don't. Some classes are so hard that no one can make an A, while other teachers (even in that same subject) make the class so easy that you can sleep through it and make an A. Seriously, if you are looking to send your child somewhere where he/she will have a good high school experience, do NOT send them here. I am so disappointed that I came here this year, because of the inconsistency of teaching methods between teachers even of the same subject, as well as the large volume of work put on us by the teachers. I would definitely consider another high school if possible, and I am considering transferring schools sometime this year.

This school has been a blessing. My son started in 2005 (delayed a month by Katrina!) and has excelled. He just finished 11th grade and has all his credits to graduate, yet he wants to go back for 12th grade and take the college prep courses. He played on the football team and, even though the team didn't win as much as we wanted, everyone had a great time. I like all the teachers there but the principal, Mr. Helmstetter, stands out as caring and concerned. The drama teacher, Rene Piazza, is funny and a good drama teacher (and yes, he was in a movie himself)

I've been at Haynes for two years and I love it. Almost all of the teachers care about helping their students and I have learned a lot from them. however, some students have posted that the curriculum isn't that great, which I agree on. The curriculum works for stellar students. They understand things quickly and easily and don't need much explanation. For the other majority of students, their grades suffer because they don't get the very in-depth explanations (actually some teachers will explain it as much as needed). Even so, Haynes is a great place where everyone learns and everyone is respected

My daughter has been going to school here since 7th grade she is now in 11Th. We love this school, I truly believe it is the best school in Louisiana and maybe better then a lot of other school in the United States. The children are treated as individuals and not just another kid or number. My daughter has become a beautiful, confident, giving young lady since going here and I think this school has played a major part in it. Thank you Haynes for doing such a great job! I would recommend everybody to do what you can to get your child in this school. I have a 2 year old grand baby and my daughter and I are already thinking about what roads to take to get her in when she is ready. Yes, the school is that good! Super pleased parent!

I am junior at Haynes Academy and I love it here. Our small campus and engaged faculty is like a second home to me. At Haynes your child will have the opportunity to sit at luch and just talk with their teacher. They will be able to join the award winning robotics club, an academic games team that has won nationals twice, a steelar band and athletics program. If you are looking for a school that is safe and personal filled with people who genuinely care about the students, a school with outsatnding academics and clubs then Haynes is a shcool you seriously need to consider.

Haynes is a great school, but they lack the consistent enforcement of rules. It's as if they pick a battle to fight only a week at a time and then change tot he next. One week the adiministration will focus on I.D's and then the next it will be socks, forgetting about I.D.'s entirely. Considering it looks bad if a student is expelled from Haynes, it is extremely rare for someone to be adequately punished. This leads to some kids to get away with everything and others getting nothing more than a slap on the hand when they have broken some of more important rules. I guess that it is actually a compliment to our students and faculty that they rarely ever have a need for such enforcement.

I have 3 kids who attend private school and 1 who attends Haynes. While Haynes is not for every child, it is perfect for my son. The education he is receiving is terrific, and I have never known a kid who loves school more than my son who attends Haynes. He does have to work hard to maintain good grades, but he has plenty of time for extracurricular activities. He plays sports and has an active social life. The teachers are actively involved in making Haynes the special place it is. Most of all, the principal is a terrific leader. He sets the standard for the faculty and the students. We wouldn't consider any other school for our son.
