I went here for 3 years and I have to say those were the most miserable years of my life! There are so good teachers there, but for the most part if you fall behind, you left behind. When i was there, I was bullied by girls that were 3-4 years older than me and the administration did nothing about it. When i told my religion teacher that I was not catholic and did not believe in God she made it her sworn duty to change me. I'm sorry but I am coming to school to get an education, not to get Catholicism shoved down my throat. Sorry Chapelle, you'll never get a good recommendation from me!
There are many girls that come to Chapelle and love it. Many of them fit right in and find their clique. But the rest of us have a very hard time at this school. There is so much favoritism, not only in extracurricular activities, but academics as well. I felt that because my mother did not go to Chapelle, I didn't have a lot of money, because I wasn't Catholic, I wasn't wanted there. I wouldn't recommend this school to anyone who's ever been on the outside of a crowd. Academically, many students have a great opportunity here. There are plenty of honors and AP programs at Chapelle. You should find yourself lucky to be allowed into these programs. I realized that because of the classes my teachers put me in, I wouldn't even be eligible for the Louisiana TOPS scholarship -- something which even the public schools will prepare you for. More recently, the school has become more focused on reputation and sports than they are on the academics and well being of the rest of their students.
everyone makes you feel alone when you seem different. most of the teachers are mean when your having troubles; they pick favorites. they don't spend their money right. they care more about the reputation then the actual education, and students. they are way to strict with the uniform. the girls are catty and trashy, they think they're better than everyone else. this is from my point of view. its miserable.
Because my daughter had a very good education there that helped continue on with her college education.
I love this school it is so much fun! rally is the best & I love how its an all girls school so we can be as silly & crazy as we want at lunch
I love Chapelle! Ive learned so much so far, the teachers are great, and I have so many friends. We have so much fun and we learn alot! I definatley recomend this school! It's the best!
As a former student I didn't really enjoy Chapelle until my jr/sr years. Some of the girls are so catty and trashy and very disrepsectful to the teachers. When it comes to extracarriculars, they do offer something for everyone, however when it comes to wanting to be involved in a high position say in like, campus minstry or student council, its all about favoritism and who you're related to. Chapelle also tries to give itself the image that it wishes it had, like the images Mt. Carmel and Dominican have. Chapelle has a more relaxed atmosphere which is what attracted me to it in the first place, however, I found some of the teachers to be kind of lazy. I still have great memories of Chapelle, but I would definitely look at other schools before making a decision.
As a response to the first post, people et outside because they like to. When it rains the gym is opened for everyone to eat their lunch. Also, I'm sure if you're child we'rent so shy they would have found a spot to sit at in the cafeteria. Its an all girls schools.. you run to lunch (because its amazing) and first come first serve. The courtyard is beautiful so its not like its torture sitting out there, the girls have tons of fun out there. I graduated in 2008 and Chapelle most definately was the best choice in high school for me. The teachers were great and it was a very caring and helpful place for me to learn. I always knew what teachers I could go to get help. There was never any lack of knowledge in the school.
School only interested in their image - seems the catholic schools have become the modern day equivalent to the pharisees. The diciplianrian is a vandictive person.
I love Chapelle it's the best High School that i know of in the district! It's soooo fun and i would highly recomend this wonderful school to anyone! When i went to the open house i was blown away how awesome the school was all the clubs and sports that we could join in the school year.
All schools are what you make of them. The only way that Chapelle would get an indecent rating is if people didn't agree with that. All of the staff at Chapelle are caring and understanding. The teachers and administration try thier best to make the students as happy and well educated as they can be. The clubs and organizations at Chapelle make it much easier for new students to gain knowledge about what they are interested in and at the same time, the students are introduced to other students with similar interests. Chapelle was a great place to spend my high school years. I didn't even like school before Chapelle. If you are looking for the best place to send your young women to school, Chapelle is, by far the best high school in the city.
Recently, I graduated from Chapelle with 4 of the greatest years under my belt. I was in mostly academic classes with the exception of 4 or 5 honors classes over the years and I believe that with the education I recieved I am ready to tackle college this coming Fall. In my 4 years at Chapelle, I participated in the Swim Team, Chorale, Video club, Photography club, and in many Art competitions which I all found to be wonderful ways of making friends and socializing with others. I don't believe there is a school closer or more competitive with each other as is displayed in Rally each year. Competition in a school is something that gets others involved and gets the actual school as a whole to highten the energy level! There was defiantly no other school for me in the world, and I'm sure my friends would agree.
Chapelle High School prepared me for college and let me grow in a safe, happy environment. I was challenged intellectually, and had made friends that will last me a lifetime.
I attend Chapelle, and it's a good school and everything, but I don't care for the teachers too much. I know it just sounds like I'm complaining, but I'm in a few honors classes and they give a lot of homework, I mean a lot. Even some of the academic classes do too. They make it really hard to be an Honors Student. And there are many really good teachers, but some of them need to be re-evaluated. But other than that, Chapelle really does care about its students, and we have so many days with activities. I definitely wouldn't go anywhere else.
Archbishop Chapelle has been perfect for my daugher. The core level classes have allowed her to learn at a suitable pace and have boosted her confidence. The extracurricular activities are numerous and well-rounded, offering something for a variety of interests. The students are well-mannered and happy and take pride in their school. The parent participation is wonderful! Our experience has been a very positive one and we will miss the school family when she graduates.
Chapelle is a wonderful school. It has a great family atmosphere with teachers that care. It has an excellent academics program that caters to the needs of the individual student.
My experience with Archbishop Chapelle began in 1994. I have three daughters and all have attended this school. With 10 years experience, I can honestly say that we have been extremely pleased with the education Archbishop Chapelle has provided them. I have been very impressed with the total quality Catholic environment that helped my daughters develop as young women.
Chapelle high school has had the greatest in fluence. The teachers really look at each student individually and as the class as a whole to find the best teaching method for the children to learn. That's what's most important to the faculty at chapelle high school-that the children learn-no matter what it takes. For this, I applaud all teachers at chapelle. It's the best school in the world, and my daughter says if she could, she'd do it all over again, and wouldn't change a thing, because 'every experience at chapelle is a positive one'.
This is our first year and so far, even though its a large school, I think it has a very nurturing environment. So far, so good.
Sending my daughter to ACHS is one of the best overall decisions I have made as a caring parent. This school has helped my daughter develope socially, spiritually, and academically. I think it has positively earned its great reputation, and most of the girls are prepared for their future.
