Natchitoches Central is a Nice school, the uniform thing was alot different, but in a way better because everyone was treated fairly. The teachers are great.

I enjoy this school. I am involved in many extracurricular activities and I have had very few problems. However, I do feel that some of the teachers focus too much on policy which wastes learing time. For example, I had missed three days of school because I had the flu. When I came back it was spirit week. One of my teachers gave me a ISS (in school suspension) for not wearing the right clothes. I had been in three other class rooms already that day and talked to one of the principals and NOBODY had said anything to me. This same day I saw MANY other students wearing similar clothes walking around. My clothes were appropriate. My shorts were baggy and to my knees. Anyway, instead of getting caught up on school work I got farther behind because I was stuck sitting in the office for over an hour.

Natchitoches Central is not the best school, but it does have teachers who care and really want you to learn. Yes, sometimes they do go overboard on the uniform thing, but that doesn't make it a bad school. The problem with this school is that we are out in the middle of nowhere and no one respects us.

The leadership of this small-town school is more interested in controlling students than in teaching them to analyze and think for themselves. For example, students must wear uniforms and ID badges, and their backpacks must be mesh or clear plastic. Also, they censor reading materials. At least one of my children's reading books had several 'bad' words carefully marked out. At the end of the year, instead of giving finals and having year-end learning activities like other schools I'm familiar with, the faculty work on their grades and tell students that they don't need to show up for school.

About these ratings

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Louisiana used the integrated Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (iLEAP) to assess students in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 in math, English language arts, science, and social studies. The iLEAP is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Louisiana.

In preparation for new assessments in 2014-15, Louisiana is including more common core aligned content in LEAP and iLEAP tests in 2012-13 and in 2013-14. The percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Louisiana used the End-Of-Course (EOC) tests to test grade high school students in English 2, English 3, biology 1, algebra 1 and geometry. The EOC is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Louisiana. The EOC is a high school graduation requirement. The goal is for all students to score at or above basic on the test.
