My school is a very special school. Our school is known for the concerns given to each and every student. Daspit School gives you a warm welcome when you visit and allows you to be involved with your child (children) events. The staff at Daspit School shows great compassion and is willing to work through any set backs that might take place.

Daspit Elementary has wonderful teachers and staff. Other than teaching our children the skills needed to succeed in life, they also empower our children with the confidence to reach even further.

Last Year my son Noah had Kim Harrington in first grade. It was great that she took the time and effort to utilize the web site. My son is an honor roll student and he takes his school work very seriously.

I have a question. When will all Daspit teachers have websites for their classes? My son was in Ms. Harrington's class for First grade and it was so nice to be able to see what he was learning. She even had audible phonogram practice with her very own voice! I thought that was pretty 'PC savvy' and very helpful for me as a parent. Michael, my son, was also very impressed and showed improvement. Now, he is in the second grade and no apparent helpful website to lean on. I think we both became spoiled. LOL

'Both my boys have Elem. one started at the age of five and my oldest transfered from a private school. My son who transfered from a private school was behind his 2nd grade class which was very disapponiting for me. He has made progress through the help of Daspit teachers, and there commitment to there students. My youngest son is in the 5th grade and will be moving on to middle school soon. Daspit is a great school, every teacher there is concerned for your child and the office staff is very helpful. The principle Mr. Brantley is the best. I would recommend anyone moving into this school district to check out the stats of graduates from other schools that started out at Daspit Elem, and I think that you will see surprising results.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Louisiana used the integrated Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (iLEAP) to assess students in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 in math, English language arts, science, and social studies. The iLEAP is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Louisiana.

In preparation for new assessments in 2014-15, Louisiana is including more common core aligned content in LEAP and iLEAP tests in 2012-13 and in 2013-14. The percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Louisiana used the Louisiana Educational Assessment Program for the 21st Century (LEAP 21) to assess students in grades 4 and 8 in math, English language arts, science and social studies. The LEAP 21 is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Louisiana. The goal is for all students to score at or above basic on the test.

In preparation for new assessments in 2014-15, Louisiana is including more common core aligned content in LEAP and iLEAP tests in 2012-13 and in 2013-14. The percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
