Jesuit High School

Jesuit High School was a wonderful experience for all of my sons. I cannot say enough about how well they were prepared for college and beyond---medical school. Thanks for the wonderful experience!

This school is, without a doubt, the best high school in America. The quality and aspiration for excellence is the standard. Plus, the motto is " Be a man for others."

I am a member of the Class of 1963. The experience of becoming a Blue Jay and the formation I underwent during my years at Jesuit prepared me to embrace the Ignatian ideal of being 'A Man for Others'. The academic training was rigorous and unrelenting and the concept of taking responsibility for my actions was deeply imprinted on my character. I learned that the essence of leadership is contained in just two words: FOLLOW ME! I truly believe that whatever good there is in me comes directly from being a Blue Jay. On my first day as a new boy I was challenged by the thought provoking question, "When God gave you a brain do you suppose He had in mind that you do something with it?" I have tried my best to live up to the challenges presented by Jesuit and I will continue to do so until I have to account for myself before God. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam! As a graduate quickly approaching his 15-year reunion, I thought I'd speak to the quality of men this school produces. My group of friends/alumni may not be entirely representative of the school, but at our ten-year reunion, my friends all had Masters, PhDs, JDs, or MBAs and were all successful and happy in our chosen professions. I have no doubt that the competition among us to succeed in school carried through our post-Jesuit days when we parted ways after high school. The teachers are generally hard but fair. Students who want to succeed will be given the opportunity to attain a top notch education.

My son is bright and did well but was "lost" in the crowd. He is shy and was not encouraged or inspired by his teachers to develop his interests and talents. If you're not "into" sports and the "connections" you may use later in the New Orleans area it may not be for your son. The academics are good but I would have preferred a school that was "happy to have him" rather than one that thought he should be happy "they allowed him" to attend. The Myth is greater than the Reality.

Jesuit offers an outstanding educational, personal, and spiritual experience. If your child is fortunate enough to gain admission, rest assured that he will receive a top notch education and grow to become a"man for others." I attended a top Ivy League university after Jesuit and had skills that were second to none. Jesuit prepares you for life. Still, Jesuit may not be for everyone, however. The young men who enter it's doors are expected to hit the ground running. That is not to say that counseling services are not offered and good, but stepping up in a rigorous environment takes strength of character. Those who do become Blue Jays.

Excellent all around. My three sons have all been given a great education. From academics to the arts to athletics there is no school better in the state.

Jesuit offers the best education in the state of Louisiana numerous state and city leaders were students of Jesuit High School. Many graduates will put that they went to Jesuit for high school which is seen as a privilege all over the city of New Orleans.

Teachers do not care. The whole school thinks they are better than everyone else. A school needs to teach life lessons, not just academics, Jesuit does not do this.

If you aren't Catholic and a alumnus, don't waste your money. All students not treated fairly especially in athletics. Academics are certainly better than average here, although my son has had to teach himself math for two years in the Honors curriculum. Also, the on level courses are not challenging for the best and brightest students. If your son is gifted academically, consider Ben Franklin if you live in Orleans Parish.

Jesuit high school is by far the best high school in the state athleticly and academically. not only does this school challenge the students with academics but also with athletics. jesuit finishes first in nearly everything a high school can offer. When i went to public schools i was always the smartest kid in my class with a 4.0 gpa when i went to jesuit i was not considered smart by any means and i am just an average student. this school will have a huge affect on any studewnt that goes here for the rest of thier life.

In May 2009 I will graduate from Jesuit High School. To me, Jesuit High School is more than a school, it is another home. Through Jesuit High School I have met people that I will remember for the rest of my life. Because of Jesuit High School, I know that I will be more than prepared in college than a large number of other students who did not have the fortune of attending Jesuit High School. Jesuit High School is more than a school, it is a community. It is a community of students who look out for one another just as they would look out for a brother. In essence what I am saying is this, a student that goes to Jesuit will receive not only a fantastic education, but also a sense of brotherhood and a confidence that he could not have achieved anywhere else.

I do not understand what the big deal is about this school.My son was there for 2 years and was bored! I moved him to a public school, where there were gifted programs and many other ways to keep him challenged. I see this place as just a big money pitt with no rteal pay off. My son is now in med. school....thanks to his public school education!

My son and step son went to Jesuit for five years. Both were State Champions in their respective sports, and earned scholarships for their sports but also had the qualifing grades to the two top private Universities in the country. Moreover, they are just great young men, who truely embody the Jesuit traditions. There is just absolutely nothing better out there in academics, spirit, and athletics, and overall character developement. While it is not for everyone, no-one has ever been denied a Jesuit education because of finances. After Hurricane Katrina, parents and alumni contributed more money to the school than ever before. That kind of says it all.

A Jesuit education is the best possible preparation for a successful life!

My son graduated last night from Jesuit of New Orleans after a senior year that was filled with turmoil mostly stemming from Hurricane Katrina. The president, principal, and teachers kept an eye on him for me and I will always be grateful.

i am a former graduate of jesuit high school '02, and from a completely unbiased standpoint, the school has in and of itself made me into the person i am today, my academics, my self confidence, the lifelong skills i have learned that have already helped me in the business world, The teachers are genuine, the goal is the same, the education is second to none, the athletic programs are without a doubt from top to bottom the best in the state, and when i go back i sincerely feel at home.

I believe Jesuit is one of the finest schools in the country. Look at the number of National Merit Semifinalists, the consistently high performance by extracurricular groups and the incredible level of scholarship money awarded to graduating seniors. All accomplished with tuition levels half to a third of private schools. But numbers don t do Jesuit, or the experience your son will have, justice. All schools use words like spirit and character building and camaraderie but with Jesuit you will find a city full of graduates that are the living embodiment of those terms. Good luck finding a Jesuit graduate that doesn t want his son to go there. There s more to take pride in. Jesuit leads with programs confronting alcohol and drug abuse. For over 150 years no qualified student has ever been denying entrance for financial reasons. Jesuit students come from every zip code and financial strata in the city.
