I honestly hate this school..... teachers are rude.....they show a lot of favoritism cause a lot of the students are relatives....... my daughter was in gifted up until she went here....... they'll never see our faces again
My son currently attends Milestone and he has a great teacher. She keeps me informed with his school work and his grades. The principal is very friendly and helpful. It's a failing school and It also lack extra activities.
My daughter attended Milestone for prek-2nd and I loved it her teachers were the best I put her in another school for 3rd because of the move across the river for 4th grade I puther back in Milestone and I was the biggest mistake I ever made she started to fail and nobody called to let me know anything but when I talked to the teachers they said everything was fine. The way the grades are giving is so crazy they take test like every week the is 60% of the grade MY CHILD WILL NOT BE ATTENDING MILESTONE NEXT YEAR
Milestone does keep you informed on your childs grades. There more worried about what they come to school wearing like out of state uniforms making sure they have this certain logo.Makes me think the school is getting kick back money off that. They don't tell you your children is doing bad until you get a report.I go to a parent conf. you tell me my child is doing great I get a report card it's something. My kids will not be returning. In the schoolisnot stable theykeeping moving all over the city.
My daughter went to this school in 3 rd grade. She loved her teacher who was vwry kind and very experienced. My daughter loved the school itself but she was constantly insulted and mildly harassed by a few other students. It distracted from the outstanding academics and the overall experience. I was impressed with the classes offered and I believe the school is doing a great job.
This is a horrible school my kids go there now and its seem like they r in daycare whst I mrsn the school doesn't keep the parent update on nothing but foolish and when something happens to my kids I find out from the kids and then go to the school and they respond is weddidn't think it was important I'm a concern parent and will not recommend this school to no one please don't send ur kids here
This is the best school my child has ever gone to thus far. Teachers care. Director cares and listens. Curriculum is strict and difficult but so worth it. My son has gained so much knowledge and confidence. I have really seen major growth in just 1 year of him being at this school. I see other parents complain about professionalism and I have never dealt with that and I'm a very active parent and we had several struggles and instances throughout the year that could have gone awry but didn't. Great school!
This is a great school. So glad we moved to this area!! Rachel L Dangerfield
The program that is used at the Milestone SABIS Academy of New Orleans is a proven college-prep program that currently serves more than 60,000 students in 15 countries. With its origins in 1886, the SABIS system is a rigorous, dynamic, and student-centered program that delivers strong results without being academically selective in its student admissions. I have been going to this school for 6 going on 7 years. This school has great extra curricular activities. This school is moving to a cleaner and safer environment next school year. I am excited to see it.
I don't even know where to begin. This is the absolute worse display I have seen of professionalism in a school. Most of the teachers and administrators don't seem to care much. My daughter came home and told me that she was told by a teacher "I am only here for a pay check and I do not care if you pass or fail". With leaders like this guiding the students they don't stand a chance. I have seen improvements in other areas this year such as their dismissal process. This school should be utilized as a last resort with no other options especially since it was assigned a letter grade of D by the local newspaper.
Milestone SABIS Academy has a great curriculum because they teach above level work. However most of the staff are not teachers and do not teach the work, but lecturing is a specialty. How can most children from no public schools survive a curriculum like this successfully? They cannot. The teachers are new and fresh, but have no clue how to deal with much less teach the children. I was very dissapointed to find that. It could be a good school if it were not for these very important abscenses. The director is pleasant, but does not take to criticism well. Instead she turns the situation around on the parent.
This school, I would not recommend for the children(most) in the local metro area because the teachers and staff do not work with the children at their abilities. Either you catch on or you fail. No in betweens. When talking with the director about it,...falls on deaf ears. Inexperienced teachers who cannot manage, nor understand needy black children is a problem as well.
The vision of the curriculum is comparable to many top notch schools, hence the reason I kept my daughter in the school. However, the lack of professionalism and discipline (proactive discupline, not reactive) bothers me. The programs offered at the school are geared toward producing highly productive children, and some of them reflect this notion. However, there are some students who are detrimental to this program and take away from the intrinsic value the program has to offer. These children are being facilitated by lackluster faculty and staff and are not meeting my expectations. MSANO really needs to get it together to keep my child enrolled.
MSANO has high expectations for my children's learning. They have good discipline and the teachers at the school help my children work toward achieving their full potential. I am thankful that my children have the opportunity to go to a school with such high standards and receive excellent education.
My children has attended Sabis Milestone since the 2nd grade and I've always enjoyed the structure of the school. As a concerned parent, I don't believe this past school year 2006-2007 was productive. I think since the Hurricane a lot has happened to the student body and the staff. I hope this coming school year 2007-2008 will show improvement in all areas.
I am highly disappointed in this school. My daughter will not be returning on next year. Over the past few months I have seen no consistency and very little professionalism in the school. It does not live up to its mission or the commercial that was aired. The curriculum is totally different from normal public schools and has not met my expectations. She will nor return on next year because now I see some of the reviews I've read are true.
There are teachers who has a good relationship with parents and has control in the classroom; student are being educated. My students are in kindergarten and third grade. The one in kindergarten has progress a lot, she can read and it is not half year yet.The school is not for students who need one-to-one teaching or special education. Parents stop complaining and start helping your child and the teacher to educate your child. This school has many activities for the parents, students and family. Its the same few families that comes out and support the activities.Think about what you can do.
I am a new parent at this school and I have read all of the other reviews written by other parents. I must say that my experience thus far would cause me to agree with everything that has been written. Milestone has the potential to offer an educational and extracurricular opportunities that would cause others schools to envy them. However, the school seems to be mostly staffed with individuals who (unfortunately) take a defensive stance when any type of inquiry is made. I would also like to add that my child has also complained about teachers 'fussing' at the students. Mrs. Watson and others in charge should give adequate attention to these types of issues to help further the goals and purpose of the school. Please note that I am an involved parent!
The quality of the school is excellent. This school is for students who are on grade level. If students are not on level and have help at home to reinforce skills daily. Students who parents are involved in their child's education and don't think all the work is on the teacher, can succeed. The after school tutoring has taken the place of the extracurricular activities.Parents involvement has improved 2005-2006 year.I like the school an I'm involved.
