It's very rare that you find value for your money these days. That's how I feel about FRA. The kids get along with each other, the education is always progressing, the faculty cares about the students and the discipline is there though confrontations between students is almost unheard of. How many schools can you find that don't have locks on the lockers, athletic bags on top of the lockers left without being taken and lost valuables returned intact? It's the atmosphere of the '50's. My children love the school and the teachers. The first day my youngest attended school; she was sitting alone at recess and three of her classmates approached her and began talking to her and made her feel welcome. They are still friends today. It's not only the academics that we appreciate, it's the overall positive feeling of the school. There are problems as with all schools but they are minor compared to most others. It's by far, the best school in the parish.
Great elementary!! Can't say enough about it. HIgh school is another story. We will go elsewhere for that. Sports is number one priority, not education in h.s. Time for the principal to retire and let some new fresh ideas flow. Otherwise I don't see this school making it much longer. He will drive people away.
Our Daughter attends FRA. The teachers are great! Extra-curricular activities are fun. Admin supports their staff... teachers, paras, even the lunch room! I know because I wrote a note to the Lunch Lady & got a call from the principal! Our daughter's grades are great, but so is her knowledge so I know she's not just handed a good grade to please parents. I wish we didn't have to move... or could find a school as good as this elsewhere.
I am a former student of False River Academy. I must say that the school provides a decent education, but the school lacks in numerous areas. One of the greatest advantages is that the school provides numerous clubs and extracurricular for their students. I was disappointed we lacked a band, speech team, debate team, and quiz bowl to name a few. However, this is understandable for the small size of the school. Education here has its advantages and disadvantages. When I attended, we lacked a firm English background and certain mathematical skills. Also, the school could have done more for ACT preparation. What is not acceptable about this school is its blind devotion to athletics and conduct of certain educators. The school, faculty, students, and parents put athletics before academics regardless of what is noted. Also, certain instructors allow for their personal lives and other jobs (most instructors are also coaches) to interfere with their job. This was deplorable, and the worst aspect of my later years. However, the school is the best of the parish.
When we moved to the area two years ago we enrolled our daughter in FRA. This is the best thing we could have ever done for her. The school reminds me of what things were like when I was in school. The teachers actually care about these kids, the parental involvement is outstanding and the kids themselves are wonderful. I know when I send her off to school everyday I do not have to worry about the quality of education she is getting or her safety. It is the perfect little school and I pray it stays that way.
False River Academy has the highest test scores in the parish. As an administrator, I am always impressed by the involvement of the parents. This, I think, it what sets us apart from the other schools in the area. This is the best choice for a quality education for your child.
As a graduate of FRA, I knew that my child would attend FRA. Even after I moved to another parish, my daughter insisted on staying at FRA. The environment is like no other. The teachers are extremely dedicated and we just love the family oriented environment. The education is top notch!
My son just completed kindergarden at FRA. He loves school. This school was ideal for out family. We feel a strong sense of values, ethics, and family atmosphere. Our second son will start Pre-K this Fall, third son to follow in 2 years. The teachers are great and the environment is very condusive to learning. My husband & I both agree that our boys will get a quality education and experiences that will help them in life. This (FRA) is just a very positive place to be!
I am not a parent but I did attend FRA from Kindergarten to 7th grade. It is a great school. The teachers are dedicated and well educated. I now go to a small public school and have a 4.0!
I have two sons that attend False River Academy, a tenth grader and a first grader. Both have been at FRA since kindergarten. The teachers are very dedicated and professional, and I feel that my children are getting a good education there. The school climate is relaxed and friendly, and age-old values are still very much alive at this school.
