I think the teachers do a wonderful job. Mr. Winkler is wonderful to deal with. However, I felt as the assitant princpal was not willing to work with me and my child on scheduling and needs. The students are great, The school is outdated and needs to be updated. The teachers are very loving and my child did recive a great education. Just wish I would have had a better experience with the assitant principal.

Both of my children graduated from Pearl River High School and they both loved it there. The school has a wide variety of extracurricular activities. The teachers are very polite and caring about each and every student. They provide one on one interaction as often as possible. Other students are friendly and welcoming, and the school is located in a small friendly community.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Louisiana used the Louisiana Educational Assessment Program for the 21st Century (LEAP 21) to assess students in grades 4 and 8 in math, English language arts, science and social studies. The LEAP 21 is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Louisiana. The goal is for all students to score at or above basic on the test.

In preparation for new assessments in 2014-15, Louisiana is including more common core aligned content in LEAP and iLEAP tests in 2012-13 and in 2013-14. The percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
