Riverside is a GREAT school. They are very advanced and they have very caring teachers.
"Because they really care about my daughter's education."
I love Riverside! The principal is strict and on top of things but at the same time she is fair and loving to the children. Wonderful caring teachers to boot!
I have had very good experiences with the teachers I have encountered and I have found that if a parent meets the teachers half way the teachers will go out their way to assist your child in any way they can with the resources and limitations they have to work in .
This school has been a nightmare for years. Clicks within the teachers, special treatment for certain children , below palatable foods..it is quite obvious the principle is going no where, she has never advanced in her standings for years. A true shame children were told they couldn't take part in the 5th grade graduation if the didn't have fancy clothes to wear. Do these people forget many children are still living in FEMA trailers and parents scraping to get by. A sad place to send a child to school.
As a father of a third grade student at Riverside I can honestly say this school has outstanding teachers. After hurricane Katrina, alot of students from other parishes relocated here and Riversides performance rating has dropped. Some of these refugee parents did not help with their negative additudes and making it a challenge for teachers and faculty alike.
I love Riverside Elementary. The teachers and curriculum are awesome. The reading curriculum, especially. I'm going to be kind of sad when it's time to leave! Their safety guidelines makes us feel secure about leaving our children there. I've been very impressed the 6 years my stepdaughter has attended.
This school has many funding mysteries , as to where the PTA spends all the money that was suppost to be for playground equipment, yet the children have to play in the drive way in front the school, also, the food is less than desireable , how do you eat pancakes with no cutlery or syrup, and the cafeteria is run like a consentration camp, bull horns and barking out orders, It appears the click within the school is what gets the special attention for certain students, and the awards, a true dissapointment in education.
I don't care for Riverside elementary. Its just entirely overcrowded. I guess they just accept anyone know matter what district you are supposed to be in.
Riverside is an excellent elementary school. Test scores alone can not express the quality of education and overall learning environment of any school. The teachers are top notch and the administration cares about each child. Parent envolvement could not be stronger and really makes a difference. Keep up the good work Riverside!
