Evangel Christian Academy

Exceptional teachers. Nobody works there for a paycheck, nor is deadwood protected by tenure. Only the truly motivated need apply. As for the decision to accept scholarship students, it is good to see a so-called "Christian" school actually live up to its name. Christ came for everyone, regardless of background. Evangel deserves kudos for staying true to its mission despite pressure to do otherwise.

I don't plan to continue to pay tuition at this school with it's decision to accept the Scholarship Bill recently passed. I'm curious to see where Evangel stands in a few years once kids from failing schools start attending.

Evangel ChristianAcademy is a well rounded school, where students can find excellence in sports, the academics and the arts. Mrs. Cynthia Whitaker is the best theatre arts teacher in our entire region. In such 2 short years she has lead Evangel's Drama Department not only to the top rankings in Louisiana, but in our Nation with such success as USA's Todays Top High School Musical.

This is a wonderful school! This is my son's first year and we couldn't be more pleased. He is excited to go to school everyday. The principal, Mr Dean is very involved with the students and is willing to help in anyway possible. They have an excellent Discoveries Program, if you have a child that tends to need extra time with studies you should definately look into this program. We have finally found a private school we can call home.

I would rate Evangel Christian Academy as the best private school in Shreveport,La.evangel is awesome,the principle,Mr.Bud Dean knows all of us by name and has a one on one friendship with us.Not most principles have this.Here at Evangel everyone is family and that's why I love Evangel so much.

Evangel is a great school. My son loves this environment and is thriving in academics, sports and understanding God's word. He was tested for the magent program and has been accepted but I have decided to keep him at Evangel. The joy I feel each morning when he awakes excited to get to Evangel is 'Priceless' I have peace of mind throughout the day knowing he is in their loving care.

My family has been truly blessed that our son can attend a Christian school. Evangel has everthing a child needs to succeed. Drama, Art, Clubs, and Sports. Every year our drama puts on a Broadway musical. The academics at this school are phenominal. I like the idea that the school fosters Career Academy training. Starting in the 7th grade, students start working on ideas of what career they might want to pursue. They keep a portfolio each year, adding additions as they take new classes and earn different honors. My son has just started his and he is already excited about the possibilites of what his career choice will have on his life. If you want your child to truly have a deep understanding of Christ, and a better relationship with him, you need look any farther. Mrs. Bass has done an excellent job of leading Evangel to a path of excellence during her prinicpalship. I have had several children at Evangel, and I have seen it improve tremendously under her leadership. She is honest, fair, and professional. The teachers and students overall love her very much. She is an excellent public relations rep for the school. We are fortunate to have her!

Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport,La. is the best private school in the area! It has excellence in academics, the arts, and athletics. During the 2004-05 school year, it received Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) accreditation. Linda Bass, the middle and high school principal, is an excellent leader. Sandy Byrd, elementary principal, is awesome, too. The PTSO is extremely active. The school board consists of distinguished business men and women. The NILD (National Institute of Learning Disabilities) is an excellent program for students with average or above average IQ but have learning problems. The Bible classes and chapels have helped my child to have a fabulous foundation. I am thankful for Evangel. If you are looking for a safe, academically strong, friendly school, give them a call for a tour.

We have been at this school for quite a while. There are a few people (teachers/staff) that are very genuine about what is going on with your child. Others are very rude. In our city there is so little to choose from. If you want a great art or music education - go elsewhere. The band is like a step child - no one seems to care. Football is definately where it is at - but the girls softball seems to be winning so I know that they are pouring tons of time and effort there. Winning is what it is all about here.

Evangel Christian Academy is an outstanding school in every way. It was recently awarded Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation. Also, its new approach to individualization of educating each student through Career Academies has been so effective! My child learned how to write a resume', an APA paper, and compile an impressive portfolio this year. Not only is Evangel an excellent school academically, but my children have received an Christian foundation that will stay with them for a lifetime! The tuition is extremely reasonable for the quality of school it is! I pay $4500 per year. It is worth every penny!

Evangel has been a wonderful place for my children. The teachers spend a lot of time with students both during class and after school. They are willing to work with each student to help him or her reach their goals. Most people do not like Evangel or are always comparing other schools to them but I feel that if your child is happy then they will learn. Evangel students do seem to be happy. Great Place!

Evangel is committed to quality education. The career academy classes are a great tool for the students to begin their focus on post high school. (Thank you Mrs. Bass for your hard work on this project) High school and middle school students win many honors in academics and arts. Awesome teachers help to make Evangel such a great place! Wonderful school that has provided my children the education and Christian foundation necessary for success beyond high school. My daughter that is about to graduate from college, with a 3.5 GPA, received her La. TOPS scholarship for 4 years plus an additional scholarship. In the beginning we were concerned because the cost of private school cut into saving for college. However, because she was so prepared and the scholarships she received, her entire college education has cost us less than one year of private school including dorm, books, etc. My youngest child is currently attending Evangel. She transferred from another local private school and was behind in math. The teachers worked with her to catch her up. She is doing great now. We love the AR program and accelerated math program. Two of the 2001 graduates, that I know of, will be beginning medical school in the fall. Great school!

Parental involvement is what is lacking. There are a few parents who seem to do all the work while others enjoy the benefits.The academics are average. Best coaching staff in state for football.

there are some great teachers at evangel however, there are some that ruin the entire teaching staff for lack of enthusiasm, and just a general uncaring attitude. also the discipline in the high school is lacking greatly.
