A lot of schools have enthusiastic parents/staff/students who will rate every characteristic 5 stars. CMM has that also, but CMM has EARNED that. Our older child attended 2 years ago; our younger is there now. We have attended under two different principals and various teachers have come and gone, yet the transitions have always been seamless. The support of the CMM family ensures the school has available the latest technology, the greatest scope of opportunities and the best faculty/staff to educate our children. High school credits are earned before HS begins. Disruptive behavior is almost nonexistent. Celebrations, clubs and travel events offer greater learning opportunities. Students here treat each other with compassion and respect. Student led organizations provide leadership and service opportunities. The accolades the students and staff bring to this school's history are too numerous to count - which all lends itself to why CMM is the NO. 1 middle school in the state of Louisiana.
CMM is and has been a terrific school for my 4 children. They have participated in gifted classes, received high school credit for classes, extra curricular activities such as cheerleading, pep squad, student council, National Junior Honor Society, softball and football. The faculty and staff are top notch. All of my children have been well prepared for their high school experience. I will be sad to leave when my last child graduates in 2014 from CMM.
CMM is the perfect place for my 6th and 8th graders. Because of its large size, it offers opportunities for each child that wants to learn and encourages others to do so. Mr. Cook and his staff bring education to a new level of excellence. They also enforce discipline codes which provides for a warm and protected environment.
I am a 7th grader at Caddo Middle Magnet. Everyone is great. I'm going to miss Ms. Gallant, Mrs. Knick, Mrs. Berg, and others, when I leave. I am an honor student, a cheerleader, and in the talented arts program. I love CMM and everyone in it. It is the greatest school ever!
Im in the 8th grade and I attend caddo middle magnet. It is a wonderful school for your kids. This would be my third year at cmm. i love it! Our test scores are great and most of the teachers really want us to pass. Two teachers that i will miss dearly is Mr. Phelps and Mrs. Mcgowan. When teach they do it in the most creative way! I will miss CMM!
It requires students to do their best at all times. Students have a better attitude and expect more from themselves due to the school helping the child to do better.
As a military family who has lived overseas for the past 10 years and for the first 10 years of our son's education, we could not have asked for a better place for our son to be educated. The majority (more than 75%) of teachers care about students and are interested and engaged in the teaching/learning process. The administration and counselors are caring and professional, always looking out for the best interest of the student. We are so blessed to have found this school! As an educator of 10 years, I can honestly say I would recommend this school to anyone!
Caddo Middle Magnet is a great school for your kids. I'm in the 7th and the teacher are already teaching us how to prepare for high school. We have a great academics program, the athletic program is great it keeps us busy instead of at home playing the video game. Our leap and Ileap scores are amazing. it also in a safe enviroment we have security tight all over the place.
As a student who has just left Caddo Middle Magnet i would like to say that i enjoyed my three years there. It was a great experience. I was in the Gateway program and although i had a lot of work, it wasn't as much as some make it to be. The teachers at CMM are great. They are always trying to help you when you need it. The principaland the whole faculty are also good. If you're a parent who has a child about to enter middle school, then I highly recommend CMM. I loved it and am sad that I will no longer be there. It is great.
I am an eith grader at Caddo Middle Magnet, and I have been attending all three years of my middle school career. After reading over these reviews I would like to point out a few 'myth busters' for you skeptics out there. - If you do not believe your child has enough homework, might it be possible that the instuctor of your offspring believes that the concept has been grasp and that additional work is not nesscesary? If it is busy work you want, they've got the internet for that. - Sports and extra corriculars: If you are honestly that interested in your child doing a particular sport please enroll them in a privite league. - Extra fees: Would you rather spend that $12 on your child or yourself? If the lader, you haven't relized that it is no longer about you, it hasn't been since you conceived.
We have a child in 6th grade at CMM in the Gateway program and find the academic standard to be excellent. Extracurricular activities are quite good for a middle school. We view the lack of emphasis on sports, complained about by many parents, to actually be a distinct plus. As much as my children love participating in sports, the fact that the school's resources and attention are focused on academic performance, and not on the fortunes of their sports teams produces a far healthier academic environment. This is the same philosophy in operation at the Caddo Magnet High School, and the positive results are plain to see.
I am currently a 7th grader who goes to this school. The school's academics and electives are excellent and is pretty much a perfect school. except the discpiline system is a little messed up. Also, cliques at this school is enormous and teachers who are really focus on education will have to think twice about this school because most students care more about each other wears.
It has been voted the number one middle school in Louisiana for many years. It is so much fun. Our 7th grade cheerleaders are awesome. They always win first and get the highest score of the day in competitions against college and high school students. There is never going to be a better school. I will miss this school when i move on to ninth grade. P.S. The principal is so cool! P.S.S. We raised $100,000 in the st.jude mathathon in one week.
I have a sixth grade student at CMM and have fallen in love with this school. They have made my student excel thus far in a large school environment. My child is very happy and is keeping up with the homework load. I would like school sponsored athletics but the school board does not allow them to compete in the public league in most sports. The PTSA sponsored program does do a nice job of letting everyone stay involved. I know that there are other schools in Shreveport however this one is the only public middle school that has a waiting list.
I'm an 8th grade mom, this is the 3rd year my child has been in Caddo Middle Magnet. The academics are exellent. However the teachers do not give enough homework. Some don't give any homework. But overall the school is a very good. The extra curricular is poor. While stressing good academics, they have neglected extra curricular activities especially sports. If I have to send another child to that school I definitely will.
I am a parent of a sixth grader at Caddo Middle Magnet. Overall the school is good, my son is kept busy nightly with homework, projects, etc. The only thing I do not like is the fact that some, not all, but some of the teachers will not respond to any type of letters, phone calls, etc. when you have questions or concerns about your child. That is something that must be worked on asap!!! Parent and teacher interaction is a must in order for our children to succeed! Overall I will send my other boys here, but the teachers need to work on communication skills with the parents!!!
As a parent of a sixth grader, they require too many school supplies and fees. For a five star school, the web page is still coming soon. There is a lot of homework, but that's okay(my child needs it to stay focused. The extra curriculum activites also keep her busy to. I havcen't had many interactions with teachers other that back to school night, but if I had my say you can really learn at any school you attend you just have to apply yourself. Parents/children choose a school based on the name. But parents check daily grade sheet regularly, and make sure assignments are done and turned in on time!!!!!
Caddo Middle Magnet is a good school, as long as you can afford high priced t-shirts, expensive trips to Italy, and are interested in having an elitist child. Every time you turn around, they have their hands out for cash. The teachers last year seemed to be bothered by the fact that my child is being treated for ADD, and I asked for more parent/teacher communication. This year he is in 8th grade, and the communication has been much better.
