Bonne Ecole Elementary School

My children went here until we had to relocate to Florida. While the school itself is very old and in sad need of visual/structural updating, the staff and teachers are true gems. There was ever only one teacher over the past three years that gave us a headache, and that was more of a personality difference. Mrs Hebbler, Mrs Hoppe, Mrs McAllister, are teachers I remember off the bat. They really care about their students! Friendliest front desk staff I've ever worked with...these ladies knew every child's name and were always smiling and helpful. The vice principal really gets involved...I would say that 98% of the times I went to the school, I would see her doing different things, from manning the car riders line to walking a kindergartener to their class. Wonderful school, wonderful, caring educators!!!

I have heard from many parents in the Slidell area that Bonne Ecole is a great school. I have found this to be mostly true. Everyone at the school is very friendly. The one complaint I have is that the school relies heavily on computers and paramethium boards as a way of instruction. I have heard other parents complain about this same topic. My daughter is in the second grade and she spends a lot of time on the computer for math, reading, and spelling. At her age I think she needs more manual instruction with the teacher commanding the childrens attention at the front of the class as in the more traditional setting. I agree children need to learn these valuable tasks but for majority of their school and homework to be on the computer is both challening for parents and the child as well as time consuming since they need a lot of monitoring to complete work on the internet!

Bonne Cole Elementary is a school second to none! The principal is young, energetic and very hands-on with the students and the teachers and volunteer parents are absolutely incredible. When ever there is a school activity, everyone is involved and there are always opportunities to get the children excited about learning. For example, book, math, and science fairs, marked event competitions, and gifted classes. There is an atmosphere of s u c c e s s in the air everyday......

Excellent teachers and great opportunities for parental involvement. I love that this school goes from K-6. There are several opportunities for extra curricular activities such as choir, robotics, garden club, jump rope team, dance team, etc.

This is the best school in the Slidell area. I am lucky to be able to send my children to this school. My kids are using computers everyday, iPods, making videos, enjoying everything they have to offer! The teachers are very up to date on the latest technology and encourage the students to learn through the use of that technology. The administration here is especially concerned with making sure each child is getting the best learning experience possible through the afterschool programs and parental involvement opportunities. I would not ever want to move my child away from such an exciting educational experience.

Love the school! Administration and faculty are excellent. We have only been there one year and all 3 of my boys love it and feel comfortable with everyone. It's within walking distance to our house which is great too!

My son is going into the 6th grade - he has gone to Bonne Ecole since the 1st grade - I can't say enough about the Teachers & Staff - they are wonderful. Your child is an individual - not just a student- and their learning experience is second to none! I wish my son could go through the 12th grade at Bonne Ecole.

Bonne Ecole is an excellent school. Teachers, staff and administration are highly qualified and genuinely interested in providing a quality education and nurturing each individual student. There are many extracurricular activities for students (particularly for an elementary school) and lots of opportunities for parents to be actively involved.

I have lived in many states and have not found a school that compares to Bonne Ecole. The school excels in all areas of education. The secretaries are courteous and friendly. The administrators are competent and professional. Each of my three children cannot wait to get out the door each morning to go to school which says a lot about their teachers. It's obvious that the staff members work well together and love what they do. Their enthusiasm is contagious. Bonne Ecole is an example of the public school system at its best. I feel like my children are safe and cared for while receiving a meaningful education. The only concern I have is that the school does not go up through twelfth grade!

I was a resident of the Bonne Ecole district for 6 yrs.I would recommend this school to everyone in that area.I found this schools academic programs to be wonderful.Their programs helped both of my children to pass on to their next grade instead of being held back.Also, if your child is having trouble in a certain subject the school has teachers that will stay late to tutor your child to help.They offer alot at this school so that it is not costly for you to get help elsewhere.I also loved that it was parent oriented.They ask the parents to be involved in practically everything.The teachers are involved and care about the children.I give this school a 10+

My son is a Kindegarten student at Bonne Ecole and it is a wonderful school. He looks forward to going every day and cries when he is sick and can not go to school. All of the teachers that we have come in contact with are excellent. He thoughoughly enjoys it. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone. I always say that Bonne Ecole is the best kept secret in Slidell. We are moving and I hate it because I know I will always compare.

One of the more outstanding elementary schools in the parish. My children (4th and K) are enthusiastic about their teachers and going there to learn. Excellent educators, very caring, spacious facility, up to date technology for teaching. My daughters' teacher has made extraordinary efforts to spark learning in the classroom with extra credit, extracurricular activities and reward for self motivation. My daughter has received A's and B's on her final report cards for the past three years and she would have never been able to achieve that without the help of her wonderful teachers. Simply the best in SE Louisiana.

When I moved with my family from Florida to Louisiana I was told that schools were not very good in the state so I tried hard to find a good one. Well, Bonne Ecole is not only much better that the school my children were in Florida, it is an excellent school from all standpoint. It is good academically, it has lots of extracurricular activities (my younger children are playing cello and violin now), and the involvement of parents in the school is awesome. A plus to Bonne Ecole!

Bonne Ecole is the best school in Slidell. My daughter attended a Christian school and another public school in Slidell before entering Bonne Ecole. Both of the other schools were good. However, Bonne Ecole is in a class of its own. The administrators, office personnel, and teachers are supportive, loving, and kind. The parents are very interested and involved. This school is strong in technology and uses up to date methods for instructing the children. I am so thankful to Bonne Ecole for the three wonderful years my daughter has had so far and look forward to two more.

My children have recently completed there second year at Bonne Ecole and we couldn't be happier. Both did really well and have excelled both academically and socially. The teacher to student ratio for first graders ranged from 16 to 19, and all of the teachers are top notch. The school has an energetic and progressive staff, who are willing to work with parents and teachers to help all of the students reach there potential. I look forward to 4 more years at Bonne Ecole then off to Junior High.
