My kids love it, the teachers and staff are great. Couldn't ask for a better public school system. One of the best in the state.

I currently have 2 children attending this school both at different ends of the academic spectrum. One is advanced in every way and is placed in programs and teachers that challenge her. She is also encouraged to participate in outside activities that make her more aware of problem solving in the community. My son struggles alittle more. His reading comprehension is fine but he is a slower reader. He however falls on the line where he is not eligible for reading recovery. I was offered the materials to help him at home free of charge and also given a few phone numbers if I wanted to seek out tutoring for him. Both of my children love their school. I find that the well rounded education that they receive is there is just as good as the private schools they once attended. The professional leadership is strong at this school.

My 2nd grader was held back per our request due to a lack of reading / comprehension skills. Her teacher at BES last year did not inform us until late in the year that she was below level on her scores. This year, her teacher was exceptionally critical of her performance until the last two months of school, then she was more lenient and gave her better grades even though her performance was the same. She was enrolled in a reading recovery program for the first part of the year then taken out without notifying us (parents) that she was being removed. Bains is great for children without any difficulties learning / special needs. Even the child pupil appraiser was unwilling to help us out when we need it. There are better schools out there than Bains Elementary.
