Parks Primary is an amazing school. Teachers at this school go above and beyond to provide a high quality of teaching for their students.

This is my child's second year here. It is a good school. As with anything, it has its flaws. First, the secretary is not rude like with our previous school, but should acknowlegde those entering the office faster. I felt we waited too long to check my child into school after a doctor's appoinment-she was missing class time. The prinicapal is involved and helpful, but may have a problem with getting back in touch with parents. I am still waiting on a return phone call from last year and this week! The kids like her and I do too. She is busy because she is involved, so I cannot complain. My child's current teacher is great. She helps when I ask her to, she returns my calls eerytime--my child loves her and so do I. The school is old, but the teaching environment is great. It is a good school.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Louisiana used the integrated Louisiana Educational Assessment Program (iLEAP) to assess students in grades 3, 5, 6, and 7 in math, English language arts, science, and social studies. The iLEAP is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Louisiana.

In preparation for new assessments in 2014-15, Louisiana is including more common core aligned content in LEAP and iLEAP tests in 2012-13 and in 2013-14. The percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.

About the tests

In 2012-2013 Louisiana used the Louisiana Educational Assessment Program for the 21st Century (LEAP 21) to assess students in grades 4 and 8 in math, English language arts, science and social studies. The LEAP 21 is a standards-based test, which means it measures specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Louisiana. The goal is for all students to score at or above basic on the test.

In preparation for new assessments in 2014-15, Louisiana is including more common core aligned content in LEAP and iLEAP tests in 2012-13 and in 2013-14. The percent of students earning a proficient score is expected to be lower as a result of this change.
