Vivian Elementary/Middle School

The last posting on September 3.2012 is very unfair to our students, parents, and staff. We have parents packing the school on back to school night, open house, Dad and donut day, Grandparents day, the Thanksgiving program and lunch with their child, and field day. No one is "stuck" up here with nowhere else to go. We have many schools in Caddo Parish that we could go work for, we choose to be here in our community and to work with our students. No school is perfect, but I guarentee you this; our students are not a number and many of them have gone on to do vey well.

Shame on the person below, obviously she didn't do her job. Vivian has some of the hardest working teachers and administrators. They care for every child and do their best to make sure everyone reaches their potential. This school has great community spirit and is an asset to the town. Great school with great staff!! Keep up the good work. ~ A dedicated warrior.

The person that posted on Sept 3rd, undoubtedly does not know our school. As a child, I went to school here, I work here, and it is the school of choice for my grandchildren. It is not a perfect school, there is no such thing. As for the principal, you can not find a harder working person for our school. She is dedicated to the school and the success of it. She doesn't ask anything of her staff that she would not do herself. She truly loves every student at the school. I hope that unhappy teacher finds his/her perfect school. I know where mine is VEMMS---Go Warriors !

All three of my children have attended or are still attending Vivian, and the experience has been very positive. The administration is involved in every aspect of education, and the teachers are 2nd to none. The 2 biggest problems facing Vivian Elementary/Middle Magnet School are other professionals inappropriately bad-mouthing the school and administration, and even more of a problem, lack of parental involvement. My worst teaching experience came from this school. My students had been so beaten down by the staff and administration that they not only didn't believe they could achieve anything, but didn't even care anymore. The administration was completely ineffectual, being either too hard on misbehaving students or ignoring them altogether. I don't know what the driving force at Vivan is, but it certainly isn't the well-being of children.

My girls love Vivian so I don't pull them out. Some teachers are motivated there and care alot about the children's education. I love my children and their education means everything too me. My girls make excellent grades and part of the reason is because of me and part of the reason is because of the teachers. I have witnessed things I don't like and I have witnessed things I simply love about Vivian. The school is not bad my children have learned alot and they are truly smart. I do believe more parents and more teachers need to be more devoted to make sure the children remain on top. I am a mother of 2 wonderful girls attending Vivian and my little boy will be attended for the first time in August 2007.

Small children need guidance not ISS. The adults should take the time to show the children right from wrong. You may be the only ones in the childs life to do so. Parents need to be notified and meet with other parents if their children are involved in a fight. Suspension should occur if a parent does not attend the meeting for a first offense. The teachers are great but i think there is to much testing talk. Thats all my kids talk about because thats all they hear.The test, the test.

There is ZERO parent involvement. The students are unruly and unmotivated. Most good teachers have their hands tied because LEAP is crammed down their throats from day 1. The administration is unaccomodating. I would not send my children here for any reason!! Home school would be more beneficial compared to that school.

After having two children that went to VEMMS it is my sincere hope that somewhere someone will take off the blinders that cover the eyes of the genereal public about this school. This school is guided by local politics where the main focus is hiding the truth from the school board. We spend so much time teaching the 'test' that we pass along children that miss the essentials and basic education that their academic future has to be built on. We owe our children the efforts to make sure that 'no child left behind' are not just words.

i think this school stinks and i dont like it i like the teachers and some of the kids but that is all i dont think we should have to wear uniforms and i like that we have leap tutering.

I have three children who attend Vivian Elemntary Middle Magnet. My children are exceptionally bright, unique and independent, and Vivian is a school that encourages these qualities. The faculty of Vivian are concerned not only with test scores and how my children, and the other children, perform, but with the individual growth and self-esteem of my children and each and every child enrolled. The teachers are understanding, available at all times, often providing cell phone and home telephone numbers. More importantly, my children come home bragging about their teachers and their principal, and stating how they are loved at their school. I wouldn't trust my babies to anyone else!

I rate the curriculum as a 4, the discipline and leadership a -4. Until the principal and vice principal look at and understand that communications is the key and that expulsion s not always the answer it will continue to have problem. If there is a problem get the kids and parents together first and then if necessary bring in a mediator (that's what the Bible tells us to do).Brining the cops in as a form of intimidation does not work, look at the repeat offenders.

I think vivian is a very good school because i went there for three years i am not a parent i am a child i enjoyed my years there. Mrs. Tolbert is an inspiration to us all. The staff is very dedicated i love them all and i will miss them especially mrs. Shaw. Mrs. Shaw knows who this is because i gave her a hug every morning i saw her. I love all my teachers and all my classes.

This school should really be evaluated by the school board. I honestly feel that if this wasn't the only elementary school in the area it would have been shut down by the school board. My child attended this school for 3 years. I move him now to the best district *St. Tammany* in the state and fear that he'll fail due to the education, or lack of education he recieved. It wasn't until his last year there that he was lucky enough to get a teacher who actually seemed to know what she was doing, or rather enjoyed what she was doing. Very very sad situation they have in Vivian.

I have two children in this school. The faculty and administration excel far beyond their duties. I would not dream of my children attending any other.

Vivian Elementary/Middle-Magnet school has a very dedicated staff. I feel like my child's first year was very successful. I am also a teacher and I accept only the best when it comes to my child's education.

i love this school my child attends but i have major problems with their discipline, i don't think a child should be put in a corner. i have major concerns with this
