I thought this school was terrible. I do not know why everyone focus on test scores and dress code. This school has serious problems. The school has outgrown in population. Children there are out of control. There is drugs, bad behavior, lack of communication and terrible teachers. As a parent I was unable to get direct answer from teachers or staff in office because they did not know my children. All the students there are ignored. The problem with this school is the community is wonderful therefore people tend to be hush hush about problems in the school. I transfered my children to a private school. My children and I have been very pleased.

I have had several children go through Live Oak Middle and was very pleased the entire time.. The teachers did an outstanding job and really showed how much they cared about the children they were teaching. I always knew what to expect. Communication between parents was excellent. Monthly letters are send out as well as being able to go online to the school website. Teachers called when necessary and not always with a problem. I had one teacher call me just to let me know how well my child was doing. He had a rough patch for a while but had improved so his teacher wanted me to know that. My child's 8th grade year was his best. His teachers worked to get him ready for high school. They were tough but fair and my son will always remember his 8th grade year. Keep up the good work.

Entirely too much time spent during the day checking length of socks and uniform violations (which none of my children ever received, but had to sit through the process). Definitely not enough communication with parents. LOMS also has a problem with allowing parental volunteers, which I think is hugely important. I'm so glad we're out of there.

I am a parent of two children who currently attend Live Oak Middle. Any time that I have had a problem or a question, the staff was very diligent in resolving the issues. I think the school is doing a great job.

This is probably the worst school my son has ever attended. Instead of focusing on the academic side of education, they tend to focus on the dress code, since when does having a pocket on the outside of your pants interfere with your ability to learn?!? I tried to speak with both the principal and the vice principal, I left each one of them a voice mail, in addition I left verbal requests at the front office on 2 seperate occassions asking for a call back....all were ignored. Staff see how children are mistreated by their peers, but tend to look the other way and chalk it up to 'these teen years'. One last thought, I thought paddling a child went out in the 80's? Yet I am told if I wish my child NOT to be paddled that I have to sign a form! We will be homeschooling ASAP!

LOMS is a wonderful school with caring teachers and dedicated staff. The school is very strict on dress code, but the ones who complain or violate the code the most seems to be the trouble makers. The test scores for this school is wonderful. All three of my children were able to take the ACT test in the seventh grade and all scored an 18. This just goes to show you how dedicated the teachers and staff are. Everyone from the principal to the cafeteria workers to the janitorial staff are willing to go the extra mile for the kids. That is what make LOMS such a great school.

I think that this is a great school. The staff and teachers are great. Some of the kids my wine about some teachers that are a little to strict on the students. But you have to remember that this is the number 2 school in the state. Their gonna be strict. The only reason they are like this is so that they can teach the students something that they will need later on in life. I do agree with the person that said that they are really strict with the dress codes. Sometimes it's outragous! But They are just trying to keep everyone in line.

It's an okay school they are a little harsh on the dress code (okay ALOT). They have good people there. The vice principle is awesome (Coach London). If they weren't so bad on the dress code it would be a nice school.

This is a terrible school. I would rather home school than put my child back. We had trouble with one English teacher and nothing was ever done. The vice principal has to do everything. They couldn't have cared less about my child.
