Northeast Baptist School (NBS)

This school is the worst I've ever been too. I was so put out and upset with this school that I left before the year was out. I actually suffered with emotional problems for several months because of this place. There are some really bad teachers! One teacher wouldn't stop talking. Talked about planes, trains, life, but never what we were supposed to be learning!! Another teacher confused the daylights out of everyone. They talked about things my mom would be horrified to know they talked about in front of me. I have MUCH MUCHMUCHMUCH more to say, but I don't want this to turn into a rant, so I'll leave with this statement. This may be a "Christian" school, but there's not much anything Christian about it. The good people and good things about this school were greatly outnumbered by the bad. I recommend another private school or homeschooling. Anything other then this school! -A Disgusted X-Student

There are some children who don't like rules, and their parents sometimes have problems, too. Many of them apparently come and go at NBS as part of their search for a place that doesn't exist. Then, they write a review here. The truth is that children in all grades get a good education at this school. The teachers and administration genuinely care about the students. You don't have to wonder what is being taught or about the character of the faculty. This is my child's fifth year there, and I have no reason to go elsewhere.

Northeast Baptist School has an excellent elementary school. The teachers know what they are doing, and they really strive for the young children to learn and grow in the Lord. However, the high school is just ridiculous. Mrs. Morgan is probably the only excellent teacher. She actually knows what she is doing, and she cares for the students and actually takes the time to call the parents about their child. Other than that, some of the teachers in the high school have absolutely no idea what they are doing, and do not need to be teaching what they are teaching. NBS should revert to just an elementary school.

I have to say that this school must have changed a lot since most of these reviews were written. My child is a high school student at this school. He attended public school in our area until last year and we had major problems. NBS was the blessing we prayed for. Without all the negative influence, my child is excelling in academics as well as positive behavior patterns. I no longer have to worry about what he is involved in or who he is with while at school. Sure, it is a much smaller school in comparison to the 'monster private schools' out there. But only because this school is not all about money, it is about God.

This school has gone down hill for some time now. Apart from the principal, the school would be great. She often goes back on her word to parents. This is not the Christian environment that they try to make it appear to be. I will not send my future children to any environment like this. The guidelines are ridiculously strict. They do not focus on what really needs to be addressed. Too many small issues are blown out of proportion, but even worse, the major issues are often ignored.

NBS is a fine school. The principal loves the Lord and does a very good job. Her money management skills are evident in that the school is able to operate on such low tuition. The teachers are equally fine people. Children get an excellent education that is truly Christian. Parents don't have to worry about the moral and ethical values of the staff. People who don't like rules shouldn't go there. From dress code to the children's behavior, the standards are very high. That's one reason effective teaching can take place there. It's also a reason I don't have to worry about my daughter's safety. I like the school and have no plans to go elsewhere.

My child has been attending NBS for the last eight years and have been VERY pleased with the teachers, curriculum, and even the principal. It has its ups and downs just like any other school, and I would highly reccomend NBS to anyone who asks me about a christian school. All the teachers love the Lord and want our children to know and love Him too. And my son loves the school and wants to attend 'forever' as he says.

I dont recomend your children attending this school. Well first off, The principal is a penny-pincher. She never adresses the current problem. She is so affraid to loose a money paying student or a teacher that she wont confront the problem to avoid 'hurting someones feelings'. This school is trying to hard to be what it is. Example: The dress code is too 'nit-picky'. down to the point to where if a girls shoes has a design on it they will make them get new shoes, but dont warn them on this before hand. The rule on the hair is so strict. i can understand not wanting a boy to have purple hair hanging in his eyes. But to make it above the ears and above the eyebrows? I believe it should be the parents choice on the hair. This is NOT a boarding school! -concerned parent

My child attended NBS for a couple of years. Though I believe the concept of the shcool is good, it is my opinion that the administration is in great need of restructuring. I also believe that if some type of restructuring doesn't take place soon, the school as well as the administration is headed for major problems. Though I firmly believe that we are in desperate need of a school that offers a sound, Christian education I could not and would not recommend this school. After learning of the things our child had been exposed to, we felt cheated and betrayed by the school's administration.

I go to nbs and they worry to much about the color of our shoes. What we eat for lunch and if we socks on or not. Instead they should be worried about keeping teachers around for more than a year and our education. In high school and middle school we never do anything in class and my grades have dropped since i started going here. The principal only disiplines who she wants and how bad they are punisheed neverfollows the so called 'handbook' as a student. I dont recomend this school at all

My children are no longer at this 'Christian' school. The school is not what it claims to be. The principal has a lot of people fooled with her so called 'Christianity', I'm not one of them. There are several questionable practices here, although the board, for whatever reason, does not care to address. If you're looking for a Christlike environment with wonderful academics for your children, Northeast Baptist School does not fit the bill.

It has been 2 years since we moved. My son attended NBS in K4 and Kindergarten. During that time, NBS had it's first graduating senior. Surely there are kinks working out as more students go through the upper levels there. Enough cannot be said about the individual concern for your child's academic, spiritual, and moral education. I love NBS.

I must admit that this school does have its problems. But what school doesn't. The teachers are great and love the Lord. My children have been there for 3 years and will be there as long as we live in this area. My children learn verses and christian morals. Although my husband and I teach these same morals to our kids, we always need back up. The extra curricular activities are growing along with the number or certified teachers. These teachers are very dedicated and somehow find ways to teach without letting the negativity enter into the classroom. What people have to realize is that the principal can only do what 1 person can do. She does her best. I thank the Lord for this school and its caring faculty and staff.

My children attended NBS for several years. There are a few wonderful teachers there, but there are some major problems with the upper grades. The administrator listens to concerns but does nothing to correct problems. As a result, there is a big teacher turnover. The teachers you see one year will not be the same ones you see the next year. There is too much focus on minor infractions (hair color, speckle book color, belts, lunch content,and etc.) and too little on more important ones (students leaving campus, teachers not teaching,and etc.) My children are no longer there. That says it all.

My daughter attended Northeast Baptist School this past year and is going to attend next year as well. As a public school teacher, I was impressed all year by the loving, individual attention that my daughter received as she grew beyond most of her peers attending the public schools in our area. The curriculum is challenging and keeps her wanting to learn more. She loves going to school!

Although we are not parents, we are Speech-Language Pathologists who have worked with a number of children who attend various schools in the NE LA area. We have found the principal and teachers at NBS to be sincerely dedicated and willing to do whatever is best for each individual student. They are very accomodating and flexible in making adaptations to the curriculum, as well as allowing the student to attend scheduled visits for Speech and Occupational therapy that are necessary for them to overcome learning disabilities and improve their schoolwork. We are grateful that there is a school in our area that is willing to do what is best for our children. The principal, teachers, and staff have shown the love of Christ by going the extra mile to be sure that each student has the opportunity to reach his/her maximum potential. NBS is a wonderful school. The principal is one of the strongest Christian's that I know, we love her. She is also very willing to work with parents in resolving problems when given the opportunity. I have had a child in the elementary, middle school and high school at some time in the last few years. It is a growing school like any other with some growing pains. However, I believe that Christ and Christ like behavior is taught here. In the last year in additions to state approved academics extracurricular activities have been added. 4-h, basketball, soccor, volleyball...this next year 6 man football, cheerleading, choir and art will be included as well. I do feel as the elementary grades have been stronger in the solidness of the teachers than in the upper grades. However, after being in both the public and the Christian we choose the Christian school even with their growing pains vs. the public. The middle and high school teachers have greatly improved in the last year and all of them are coming back for the next school year.
