Tremont is a small community school that is the center of the community. The teachers really care about each student and we use our wonderful community resources well. We have great parents who are involved and our kids feel safe and loved at school. I feel they are getting a good education and in more than just academics.

I think this school has an certain something that makes this school stand out. They have a great technology program, which lead to them winning the robotics meet in Castine.

Although the teacher are very caring the school lacks of 21st century skills teaching. Gifted teacher available only 1 day a week. Library only has one computer set up for Internet research. Like most public school these days the focus is on 'teaching the curriculum' and test scores rather than innovation and creativity. Although there seems to be plenty of time for nonsense like 'Talk Like A Pirate Day'. Since its a small school, test scores can fluctuate up and down so the reliance on test scores as a measure of actual learning is unreliable.

I am thrilled with tremont school and it's staff and principal. They work hard for our kids and work as a community for the kids to be succcessful. I am proud to see the increase in the testing scores and know our principal Diane Waters is working hard to continue making our school greater each year. I am proud of the community and how it interacts with the school and how everyone uses many of the resources we have on this beautiful island & in our state to expand the learning beyond the classroom. I give tremont 8/10
