St. John's is a wonderful community or parents, teachers and students. The acdemic curriculum is rigorous from K-8 and currently one full year ahead of the local public school in Math. Character development is taught through stewardship where each class has a project that collects coats, food, and/ or school supplies for local not-for-profits. As a result, children grow to understand respect, kindness, generosity, and compassion for those around them. Graduates tranistion well into high schools and place in AP classes. Local high school teachers have said that they can identify a SJCS student in their class because of their critical thinking, writing, math and study skills. School has been there for 130 years and we are so pleased to have three of our children attend SJCS.

Almost every day you say, 'That's why I'm glad our kids are at St. John's School.' Personal attention, real caring of the teachers is tremendous. Teacher capabilities in many areas is in that 'unbelievable' category. Principal has a vision and leadership and technical ability to make it happen. Assistant principal brings a complementary skill set. Both set high expectations. Language arts, writing skills, math, and social studies take center stage. Extra curriculars are solid to exceptional with sports teams, floor hockey, math meets, scouts, and family events (dinners, barbecues, assemblies, concerts) enriching while building community and friendships. Community service is constant. Annual school play is phenomenal. Junior high math team is constantly in top three. Expectation is parents will be involved and utilized. Focus is on the student and family; they don't just go through the motions but think about why they are doing things.

We are extremely happy with St. John's School. The education our child is receiving is top notch. We are very impressed with the recent test scores. It is wonderful to see students in the upper classes interacting with the younger grades. Our child has also learned that it is important to give back to the community, support local charities while learning and living the Catholic faith. We feel blessed to find a school which truly loves their students.

St. John's is a fantastic school and a wonderful community. The school provides a great mix of academics, extra curricular activities and religion. All teachers and staff are accessible, and well-organized who place a priority on the safety of our kids. We couldn't be more pleased with the education our kids receive there.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
