Our son is just completing kindergarten at Pond Cove school. We've found the school to be even better than we'd hoped. The teachers and staff are dedicated, warm and really care about the students. The community services afterschool program is also good, but a little bit chaotic.

We have had four children go through Pond Cove School. I cannot say enough good things about it. It is warm, friendly, nurturing, progressive, fun and academically challenging. A great elementary school with terrific leadership and a strong record of producing well prepared students.

The school's priority is the children and their education. I've never seen such a school and community that embrace its school system the way Cape Elizabeth does.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Maine used the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) to test students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math and in grades 5 and 8 in writing. The NECAP is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Maine. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
