I had the pleasure of doing an internship at this school for the University of Maine. The teachers at this school were very caring and focused on learning. They have come a long way with all the major budget cuts in our county schools and I applaud each and every teacher in this school system. They have created great after school programs for the kids, such as Civil Rights (which educates the children about all aspects of bullying). I worked individually with almost every student and have seen some very gifted and talented students come through those doors. Many students have proven their academic excellence and balance with sports. Their students have won state geography bees, state championships in all sports, 1st place in drama competitions, etc. As an aspiring teacher, I would be honored to work at this school with these great kids!
Eastport Elementary is a great School. all of my children went to this school and had a great time. It is a great school, great teachers and staff.
this is the last school i would recommend to anyone!! as far as im concerned this is the worst school in the state!! when it comes to bullying, they make no attempts to prevent it.in fact, they punish the one thats being bullied because he or she retaliated, trying to defend themselves.its funny, they notice that, but not the bully. they also use favoritism.they dont have enough teachers to help the children when they need it,and when a child needs help, they raise their hand and all the teacher can do is tell them to put their hand down and try to figure it out themselves.my child has been their for years being bullied, and still to this day, they cant seem to do anything about it.all they care about is getting paid!! they tell you they will help, and they do just the opposite! the parents of some children have placed their children in other schools because the school will not do anything about bullying! is a sad thing.they can get on here and say whatever they like to defend this school, but i know the difference!i will take my child and move also.
I would not recommend this school. I have several children in the system. The school allows staff to bully children. Discipline is lacking. Does not teach tolerance or Diversity of others. Does not welcome volunteers.
This school is a great place to work where we really try to meet individual student needs.
