Very Very Wonderful School! My children came from a much larger school and grew in leaps and bounds when we moved to Alton. The teachers are the Best! Alton School's MEA ratings are higher on average then the State Average. The building is like new and they have also recently added new playground equiptment. Sad to see the older negative post because it coudln't be further from the truth.

Alton Elementary is a wonderful school and the staff there truely care about the students. We moved to Alton from a much bigger school system halfway through the school year. My children were lost in the mix at those big schools. I saw them grow more in that first half year here then a whole year at the old school. On Average Alton's MEA scores are higher then the state average which tells me they are teaching the students the appropriate curriculum. I love the staff. They are always friendly and willing to help. The building is like new and the playground has just recently been updated. I would highly recommend this school to anyone! Its sad to see an old post that couldn't be further from the truth. Just call the school and talk to the staff there and you can make up your own mind.

This school is under-staffed. The education is second rate, at best. The only interest the staff or administrators have is enrollment and funding. They are not concerned with the best interest of the children. I hope it closes when the governor's school admin. reorganization plan goes into full effect.
