The faculty give underachieving students too many chances to fall behind, yet still pass; ie. student A passes in a paper on time and gets a 3.0, while student B passes in a paper a month late and can still achieve a 3.5. There are many remedial style courses and options, with multiple ed techs per class, while the students that are capable of doing their work above standard are given no resources to achieve more unless that get special permission to qualify for Gifted and Talented, and few are even aware of this option. There is little recognition for achieving students (they removed Valedictorian from graduation) and seem to strive for "effort" instead of actual achievement. Some of the teachers have issues with attempting to discipline, and cannot control their own classroom along to give a lesson. Some teachers even seem to be under qualified to teach their classes, while there are few who consistently permit students to work hard to earn a grade. It's the teachers that notice achieving students that seem to get the highest level of success out of their students.
