Bonny Eagle's just as good as any other school in Maine. Yes, we don't have a lot of money, but that at least partially stems from being in such a rural area. There's a wide range of courses offered, and plenty of AP opportunities. My only complaint would be the lack of funding towards band, chorus, and drama. Also, to the person who said the school board funds Quest Club (for Dungeons and Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, etc.), if they are, I'd quite like to see this money because I'm a founding member of the current Quest Club and we don't get anything like that. It's just a place to go after school and play table-top games with friends.
I believe the new administration is doing great and I am just sorry that it did not happen before now, now we they should just weed out a few of the secretaries that have bad attitudes and do not treat teachers and parents with courtousy that they themselves would expect. I think we are seeing more a balance between a great education and keeping within a budget with such a large district it is hard to keep every town happy, so you will have some complaints. They are going in the direction of STEM but I would like ot see this progress faster since this is where I think the future is going.
I rate Bonny Eagle at excellent they have an awesome education program. They are strict and follow through with the students. They prepare them for the real world. i have been to two other districts and Bonny Eagle truly cares for there students. There is an array of courses that covers many different careers. I am impressed with the school disciplinary program and the extracurricular activities provided for children.
i go to this school and it's amazing and we love our football team and we won states so that means something
I find this school to be a bright spot in the area for Academics and Community involvement. While it's true that there is more of a focus on Sports than the Arts, there are still solid arts programs available. And though the Sports do get some things funded by the school, the Sports Booster program raises a HUGE percentage of all monies on their own. There is more than the Basics offered at this school. In fact, we moved here because other systems didn't have the quantity or quality of programs available. There are College Prep, AP, and Independent study available for those that want them. Possibly one of the worst schools in Maine? Like mentioned before, this school caters a lot to school sports. The school board would rather fund a basketball team instead of funding a school band trip, which has happened before. The school board funds the most ridiculous extracurricular activies such as a gaming club which is dedicated to Dungeons and Dragons, World of Warcraft, ect. What a waste of taxpayer money. The school courses (or programs) are very limited. Students are offered their general required classes such as Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, Biology, Chemistry, Lab Earth Science, English 9-12 but then are left in the dark afterwords. You are better off going to vocational school (in Portland) and that's what I did. The school is tiny. We are one of the largest districts in Maine (if not the largest) and we probably have one of the smallest high schools. Student parking is terrible.
This is a school that caters only to kids who are never in trouble and play sports. They are not willing to work with a parent to keep a child in school. They told my child he would never ammout to anything and probably wouldn't even be able to get a GED. My child needs an education ,so I need to get him back in school but am not impressed with this school at all.
