My son attends Winthrop High School, and though he does struggle in a couple classes, the teachers do whatever is necessary to help him excel! They are committed to working with the kids and community..

Both of my kids went through the school system from K through 12. They are both doing great at the college level. The system is not perfect but there are many quality administrators, teachers, coaches and other employees that more than makeup for other shortcomings. Also, I feel that the board of education does a tremendous job dealing with the budget issues that plague every school system.

This school is not a good school. The teachers in this school do not care about the kids they just want to get their work done and get paid and go home. The principle in the school is both princapul of the middle school and the high school. She does not know how to handle the high school kids and still treats us like we are in middle school.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Maine used the Maine High School Assessment (MHSA) to test students in grade 11 in critical reading, math, writing and science. The results reported show how well students are mastering state standards, specific skills defined by the state of Maine. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.
