My daughter is in her third year of attending AHS and she loves the school. The teachers make themselves available and there are many teachers willing to help scoot kids along the right path. they take above and beyond risks to help out the kids, and the magnet school makes extra courses available. i love this school and everything that i've heard about drugs and violence is untrue.

I am a student at Aberdeen High School. The academic curriculum of the school are set at challenging bars. This also depends on whether or not you are in their magnet school, the SMA. I plan on taking extra courses this summer there to advance into honors or SMA level. Academically I believe the school is set. On the other hand I think it could be less boring there if we had more pep rallies or dances to keep us excited. Fights and violence are also very rare. Overall I am attending a great school that will, if I take advantage of the opppurtunity, prepare me for college.

I was unsure about whether or not this school would be best for my child. I had heard about a lot of violence--however, she graduated last year and my youngest daughter has just began school here and I can tell you they've experienced no problems, none of what I heard of and I wonder where it all originated from. But really, I'm just glad that my daughter's time there was very beneficial and enjoyable, and I'm sure my youngest will have just as good time, if not better!:) This is a great school.

Aberdeen High School is a great school. This is my daughters first year there and I must say that her experience there is great thus far. She loves the school. She is very involved with after school activities such as sports, all year round. Her teachers as well as her coaches are very supportive and nurturing of the students and parents. I keep contact with all of her teachers and coaches via email and they are wonderful. My daughter is averaging a 3.5 GPA at the school. The principal makes himself available as well as the guidance counselors. Aberdeen High School is a diverse school which is wonderful for the community which includes Aberdeen Proving Grounds. In addition, Aberdeen High School is a brand new state of the art school.

I am a parent of two children who graduated from AHS. I was so proud of the education they received there, I left a college-teaching career of twenty years to be part of the faculty. While at AHS my children were part of the AP program, athletics and music. They had a positive and productive four years at AHS. Now, they are both attending a major university; one is a member of the university's pretigious honor's program. Anyone relying solely on test scores, is going to get a skewed vision of the school. Many of those numbers are impacted by factors that are not obvious to the casual observer. If you want a school with a faculty that is deeply committed to education, discipline and menotring, send your child to Aberdeen.

As a graduate of Aberdeen High, I would never send my child to school there. It is a dangerous environment. There is a lack of real discipline and many teachers seem to be scared of the students, so most classes are a joke. A good education for those who really care is hard to come by, which is obvious by the school's overall test scores. Think very hard before sending your child to this school!

I am a recent alumni(2006) and I did not enjoy my time at AHS. The students were uncontrollable and rude, some of the teachers didn't care at all about the classes and the students they taught, and I feel that I was not challenged enough by the coursework. I would not send any child of mine to this school. Of course there were some good teachers and students but they were definitely overshadowed by the bad ones.

abeerdeen high school is a wonderful school. my child currently attends here and is doing very well. There are tons of after school activities and the sports programs are great. Also sense they have built the new school it seems as if they are going in a new better direction for the good.

I am a graduate of Aberdeen High and would love to send my child to school there if we ever moved back to Maryland. Of course, the academic programs were excellent, and the sports programs were top notch, but the diversity there is what made my school experience so great. The nearby Aberdeen Proving Ground filters in children from all walks of life, many of whom have lived in other countries. If you are looking for a diverse, accepting experience for your child, look no further.
