I actually went to Abingdon Elementary quite a while ago. When I was there the teachers were amazing. The guidance department was very helpful as well. I have heard that the majority of the teachers I have still teach here. It is a wonderful atmosphere for children to be in.
my daughter attended this school for pre-k and the teachers were amazing. we had great communication. my child made a lot of progress this past year and i am so proud of her and thankful for the wonderful teachers.
I have been involved with this school for at least 6 years. The staff is wonderful and very helpful and they are wonderful with the students. Their priorities are the students and you can tell with how much effort they put into every lesson.
This school is great sadly we moved last december (military family) really good communication and really nice teachers.
Wonderful school! The teachers are caring and challenging. They take their time to return calls or notes, meet with the parents. The principal and new vice principal are very visible and willing to speak with parents. My child has recieved a great education thus far. Very proud to say my child attends this school.
My child has had a great educational experience at Abingdon. He has had caring teachers who have been willing to address his special needs. The assistant principal has gone out of her way to work with my child this year and resolve issues. She listens, offers solutions and fixes many behavior issues by working with children and their parents. The previous poster spoke with her several times which indicates that she took a great deal of time to hear about their child and his/her problem.
I find it very difficult to communicate with my children's teachers. The principal is willing to speak to you and does return your phone calls. The vice principal has a lot to be desired. The few times that I spoke with her, I got the impression she really didn't care about what I had to say and she just said ok, ok, ok during our conversation and rushed me off the phone. The school really needs better customer service.
Beautiful school, great office staff, much parent involvement, however very behind with academics. Teachers are not easy to communicate with. Volunteers are sent to make copies and are not welcomed in the classroom. Vice principle much more visible than principle.
My daughter attended Abingdon last year. She made a lot of friends but did not seem to be challenged. She was put into the gifted program which meet once a week. This was a big let down for her father and I. I am considering pulling her out and placing her in a private school.
My son has attended Abingdon for 4 years now. We are thinking about moving. I can only hope that his new school is a good as Abingdon
My daughter was in the second grade last year and I was not impressed with the quality of teaching. She was put in the gifted program for Reading & Math and still not challeged. It was our first year at this school and Harford County. I have noticed that this school has alot of 'new' teachers who may not be experienced enough. The MSA scores for 3rd grade are about 76% in Reading & Math and I cross checked others schools and this schools stats seem low! To me experienced teaching makes better teachers. This could be our last year at this school if higher quality of teaching is not inforced. I am very concerned with the quality of teaching at this school.
This is an exceellent school with great parent involvement and a dedicated PTA working hand in hand to support all of the educational programs. Thumbs up for the special ed program and the services offered to children with special needs!
Great school in all aspects: learning, interaction of children with their peers, and good discipline.
