This school has fundraising events during the school day and excludes students from activities if donations are not made. I pay good money to send my child to this school and it is unfair to make her feel like she did something wrong because we didn't send a voluntary donation in on time. Have your fundraising events during non-school hours.

This school has a lot of great qualities. The parent involvement is great. The principal is also pretty amazing. The elementary school is really good, but the middle school is not great. Many of the middle school teachers are older, burned out, sarcastic and can be down right cruel (not all). The homework amounts are ridiculous. If your child needs any extra help this is probably not the right fit. The tuition is reasonable, but there is a lot of pressure for fundraising.

My child went to this school and had a great rounded education. I don't think any school can live up to the expectation of perfection. Remember there are some people who aren't happy in general. Two parents can't always agree on what is right for their child but I think Sr. Joan always has the best interest of the student in mind. The principal is a great hands on person who enjoys having fun. The teachers are very good. He had one teacher that I didn't think was very good but that teacher left after a year. The teachers do try to reach every child and provide a caring environment. My son did very well in high school and college and got a job making a good salary and benefits. I think Saint Ursula gave him the foundation starting in Kindergarten and moving through grade 8 to help him be successful as an adult.

This is an excellent school with a challenging curriculum, and with really caring staff who really get to know each child, and for a very reasonable tuition. The principal is a one-of-a-kind: Sister Joan is kind but respected, an elderly nun with a great sense of humor. She endears herself to the boys with her interest in professional sports. She knows every child by name. Once my son was really sad about something and he felt perfectly comfortable confiding in her and crying into her shoulder. She then called me personally to tell me about it with concern, not judgement. Also the school does a great job of containing tuition costs with really inventive and fun fund-raisers like spaghetti dinners, ice cream socials and a Fall Festival. These fund-raisers are much more fun than just selling candy or gift wrap from a flier, and they create a sense of community. I am extremely pleased with the school and I am very happy that we chose this school for our child.

My daughter goes to this school from k-2. I was very disappointed with their math education. This is a private school and you would expect teachers will pay more attention to students. If you think like I did, you would be disappointed too. Not only math is behind other schools, I have to spend lots of time to practice with my daughter. The classroom is so crowded (25 students) and the teachers don't have time to help everyone. I also notice that homeworks are not reviewed/corrected all the times. The school is too small, it does not have a playground or any sport fields. The only outdoor place is the parking lot. The location of school makes the morning drop-off such a nightmare. There's no functioning traffic lights except in the morning, so leaving school in the afternoon is very dangerous.

It is a great school. Math is a little behind the public schools, but because of the organizational skills and the discipline to do well, the kids catch on quick in high school. My daughter is getting ready for college. Hopefully she will do well with her 2060 on her SAT, 1360 in the two primary scores. Thanks Sister Joan and all the great teachers.

This school did not meet our expectations. Our child attended 6-8th grade only. My son received a superior education in literature, science, and history. Other fields were adequate. Math instruction was poor. Over the course of the three years, the children were assigned a huge amount of homework. Ordinarily, this wouldn't be a problem but many times the work was 'busy work' with little value. In addition, around the time of Catholic Schools Week, my son was assigned multiple long term projects in different subjects so the teachers could showcase the school. Again, little was learned, except how to rush through with minimal effort. After school activities were good. Parental involvement high. Great scout troop associated with church/school.

I attended St. Ursula and it is true that your education in the early years of your life is what creates life-long intelligence and character. Sr. Joan has excellent discretion and bases all of her judgements around the long-term benefit of the students -- technology, art, education and diversity. I attended one of the premiere private high schools in Baltimore County and it did not hold a candle to the wealth of confidence, attention and dedication that St. Ursula gives all of its students.

Excellent school. Perfect balance between academics and life-lessons. Caring environment. Many activities. Well-educated and professional staff. Couldn't be happier. My kids love it.

It is not an easy school, but the kids get a good education and they love the school. Sr Joan knows all the kids by name and runs a tight ship. Bravo to her and her wonderful staff of teachers and helpers. Parents can't help but to get involved. A great Christian environment.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
