hope this school will, this schoo 2012-2013l year open to next leve, namely 9th gradegreat special ed program
The interest the principal and teachers show in wanting the kids to excel is excellent. if you are an unruly kid or parent(s) of an unruly kid this is not the place for you. Chinquapin middle school was a nightmare and if anyone, parent or child would like this school to come back in existence, maybe you were a part of the problem. My son is in the 6th grade and he's very happy with the safety of this school, if Chinquapin middle was still around my son would under no circumstances be attending. The staff being foreigners have absolutely nothing to do with learning and excelling.
This school is now called baltimore it academy this school is awful I hate it with a passion. This school should fire all the foriegn teachers because and some of the american teachers. Please someone help this school or change it back to chinquapin because it need severe help. I am an 8th grader here and I hate it if you ask anyone that goes here if they like it they will say no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This school is now called Baltimore IT Academy. This school is HORRIBLE. The teachers can not handle these urban kids. The school is out of control and funding for this should be ceased immediately. Also they have a lot of foreign teachers who are unable to control the classes.
I was a student at Chinquapin all 3 year of my school middle time.06-09.As we had ups and down what school doesn't.We excelled too a best ability and more.A job well done too Chinquapin staff for getting me where i am at now,
This is a fantastic school with many academic accomplishments in the past two years. My child is happy and having a very successful school year in the sixth grade. Progress is being made in many areas. We need more parental support to get the word out that this is one of the best middle schools in Baltimore city. With more parent involvement we can make greater improvements. The community needs the support of everyone.
I was a student at Chinquapin Middle School last year, and i am know a freshmen at Western High School. I have to admitt that Chinquapin did have its problems, but what middle school doesn't ? I give my thanks to Chinquapin because they have shaped me into the kind of person i am today. The teachers and academics have prepared me for the hard work of high school, and i now excell in my school work and i have pride in being a Chinquapin alumni.
I was a student of Chinquapin Middle School 3 years ago, but now I attend Western High School, and I am Class Rank 23 of 194. I have to give my thanks to Chinquapin, they have installed the crateria and motive that is needed for students like me to excellently move on into a well determined adult.
I was a student at chinquapin 2 years ago and now as I am a student at Baltimore City College I have to thank chinqaupin for the academic values and goals that they installed in me
My daughter is in the seventh grade at Chinquapin Middle School and I am disappointed. Due to the lack of homework given to the students each school day. My daughter progress report is excellent but is she progressing or just given a grade. I am a parent that visits and calls Chinquapin Middle for my child and will continue until she graduates next year.
I am not pleased with the level or amount of homework given at the school. Staff and student moral is low at the school. I don't feel that the school is parent friendly. They do not have enough, if any, school activities for the students.
My son trasferred tothis school mid year from a Baltimore County school and I was 'shocked and appauled'. I sat through his classes the first day and could not fathom the thought of him returning. I really felt bad for the teachers...I had trouble staying focus on the lesson because of all the chaos. Because this was my son's first year in middle school neither of us knew what to expect. It was horrible and I only hope that the Baltimore City School System get it's act together. The sad reality of it all is that these kids are our future.
My son and daughter both attend CMS. The chaos and lack of discipline of its student is a total reflection of improper parenting so therefore I hope to find alternatives that will meet my children needs in education. Recently I've taken the opportunity to sit in on my children classes and found them to be very disruptive to the point where the students are running the classes. Kids walking about the hallways talking on cell phones durning class time and in between classes. The whole entire school system of Baltimore city is not running like a well oiled machine but like a snail behind all its counterparts in the county and private sector all because of the lack of parenting which has resulted to be simple behavior disorder among the majority of the student population. I taught at CMS from 1993- 2000. The problems at Chinquapin are symptomatic of larger problems in the whole city system. Better buildings, some new books, a community that cares might be a start. Until then, I'll live by the sad motto 'You can't shine a dukie.'
This school was once a very good and safe place. Now it is in chaos and very little discipline is going on. The racism of certain administrtors bothers me, I am black and so is she but I do not want my child to hear the racism and blame others attitude. Do not send your child here.
This is a horrible school. Its very unorganized, and crazy things appen here. Students bring guns knifes. They drink alcohol, they also set fires in the floor. My daughter went to this school and the time she spent there was the worst times of her life. This isnt the place to send your child if you want them to excell.
